Hi all, bike ran fine in the morning friday but when i went to leave work it wouldn't start. the ignition fuse keeps blowing. when i turn the key on and flip the kill switch all looks good, fuel pump primes. but when i push the starter button the fuse immediately blows. any idea of what to check? all looks good from a visual standpoint, just confused as of where to start.

By "start button" he means the right side handlebar assembly ... I've had a few problems on a few of my bikes that stem directly from the right handlebar assembly ...

Check for either a short in the wiring. Possible starter is stuck causing high amp draw, or the lead wire going to the starter is melted close to the starter itself.
Don't know how old the starter is.
Whatever you do no larger amp fuses are to be put in place of the original required fuse . always put the same amp fuse. Usually when you touch the starter button to start the Engine and a fuse is blown you have a Stuck starter or the lead wire going down that plugs into the starter itself will be shorted.
I have many times had to pull some new wiring for that same problem. I have had to do that to my own bike as well as some customers. I caught mine in time .
The Quicker 1.4 kw starter I installed on many an xb bike starts quicker , less winding over is less strain on the wiring . the heat issues with the bikes are always something you will have to be aware of . Check your small things first . Hope it is an easy fix. *Jimi

Thats good to know. I pulled apart the button housing on the handlebars to start with. It all looked fine and after I put it back together I decided to try and start it. It starts and runs, but I still want to try to figure out what caused the blown fuse so I'll start making my way back to the starter itself.

Check close to the handlebar assembly to start with ... might be a chafed wire you moved away from grounding out there when you took it off to take it apart ... just my 0.02 ...
