Hey guys, I'm looking to get some body armor and wondering if anyone uses it. I am referring to the "jackets" that are just mesh with armor sown in. I will be riding in a hot-zone and don't want to completely lose the gear to prevent a heat stroke.
Example armor
If anyone has any recommendations on specific products, things to look out for, or sales, that would be sweet. thanks!

Fieldsheer Mach 8

I run with that. Very breathable. Decent protection. I've ridden with mine in 100+ deg with no problems.

You may have more luck finding the Mach 7. Same jacket, but they change the leather shoulder/elbow out for a synthetic material.

I have the Mach 7 jacket and love it. It breaths great in the 100+ weather and with the liner in I have ridden in 50 degree weather with no problems.

Just ordered one similar to the one you showed but mine is Troy Lee Designs. I'll post about how I feel about it after I get to use it a few times.

Thanks for the links, but they still seem like they would be too heavy. Are there and lighter options, similar to the link I posted?

I just got back from Daytona 20 mins ago and saw really cool mesh/body armor jacket for $150. Driftingswiftly never seen that one before, but the price is right. I've always been partial to Alpinestar, and this time of year down here in FLA. mesh is the way to go.

Ok, I know I'm preaching but...remember your mom picking stones out of your palms when you were a kid after crashing your bike? Remember how hot it felt? LEATHER is the only way to go!!! Better to scuff up a dead cow than your live skin. Just my 2 cents, Wayne

Dainese makes a mesh jacket that performs just as good as their leather ones. It even has that spine protector. It may be more expensive than most, but since when is your life cheap? I have one overseas and love it. So much I got another to take to California for when I'm here since I couldn't find one anywhere. Everything else I found was not up to par with the Dainese.

^^^ Agreed. Dainese is excellent quality. I use their summer pants under jeans when its hot. It's nothing compared to good leathers, but it's better than nothing.

Yep that,s the one, looks better in person. I've admired Dainese for A long time, but I,d have to order them because no one around here carries more than Dainese gloves. I like the summer pants might look into them.

dave_xb who is OP?

Hey guys I thought i posted this earlier, but I guess i never clicked post before I x-ed out of the page. I am also looking for a super light jacket. my buddy uses this one by fox, but its meant for mountain/birt biking. I like it, but i don't know if it can be trusted on the road, ya know?fox mesh

OP= original poster

I use this for hot weather riding

Its a A* T-Breeze Air-Flo Jacket, which is very breathable.

Mesh icon jacket, untested thank goodness but has back, elbow, and shoulder pieces. Wrists, elbows, and shoulders are leather, chest is mesh. Can barely tell it's there. Need to invest in pants though; are the riding jeans any good?

Riding jeans are better than nothing. But even if I'm going to the store, I at least wear the Dainese under armor shown above with my A* race boots. Some members on here won't get on their bike without full leathers. [up] Its' better to wear too much than too little.
