So I used to have the EBR front finned brake rotor on my xb9r but I never got an upgraded rear rotor. Does anyone know if there is an upgraded rear rotor for these bikes, the one on erikbuellracing.com looks like it is only compatible with a chain driven bike. Also for the upgraded finned EBR front rotor, what brake pads would be the best ? theyre are for a 09 xb12r that is used strictly for commuting, putting roughly 1,000 miles on the bike every month, NO TRACK. I just like to have the extra braking power seeing as people drive like idiots and you never know when your going to have to stop on a dime before getting your change. Also if there are any other braking power upgrades that ya'll would know about it would be much appreciated if you could recommend some DIY upgrades or products that you noticed a great result with after using. Thanks

I just installed the ebc hh pads on my 1125 front and rear, and I'm highly impressed.

Another upgrade is to go get the ztl2 8 piston caliper instead of the ztl 6 piston if you don't have it already.

As far as the rear upgrade, I'm not really sure. Ive noticed that the rear brakes on these bikes suck pretty bad tho.

Yep, I couldn't agree with you more, that's why I'm looking for some sort of upgraded rotor, pads or pistons that will make a difference for the rear.

The 09 firebolts and 09 1125 actually comes stock with the ztl2 8 piston calipers.

To be more specific, I'm looking for a performance floating front and rear rotor for the ztl2 8 piston caliper for a 09 xb12r firebolt

How do you figure the rear brakes suck i have a 1125r and with very little pressure the rear locks up. You might want to just switch to the ebc pads and make sure your brake has no air in it.

The rear rotor from EBR will work on your bike, xtremelow had one on warhorse and ArmyMP09 had one on his bike also.

I recently had a problem where the pressure switch for the tail light was leaking fluid. I replaced that, bled the line and adjusted the lever. my rear braking power increased quite a bit more than it was before my pressure switch popped it's seals.

Is your poor rear braking something that can be fixed by adjusting your rear brake lever?

Also, does the brembo rear caliper mod increase rear braking at all, or is it about the same?

from what i've seen on here, the caliper alone won't make much of a change, but others have been swapping the MC also.

For the rear, imho, so long as you keep good pads and change the fluid at the proper intervals, it will work exactly as designed--that is, for a vestigial part of the braking system as a whole, they work pretty darned well. My bike has a Brembo/hidden caliper, and it doesn't feel any better than my '09 stock one did when I do resort to it (slow maneuvering, when carrying a passenger, in the rain or questionable surfaces, to settle the rear a bit when I'm coming into a corner hot, etc.). Otherwise, when I need to stop NOW, the rear becomes quite sensitive, because so much of the weight transfers to the front--if it were much more powerful, I would really have to think about not locking it up....

For the front, well, I definitely recommend a radial master cylinder--again, in my opinion, the feel is significantly improved, as is the perceived power at the lever. It just feels "right" and is much easier to modulate for me.

Again, as Dennis Miller was prone to say, these are just my opnions--I could be wrong... :D

I upgraded/changed both front and rear rotors to the braking wave rotors with carbone lorane pads. No real difference in the front but there is a marked improvement in the rear.

Contact Lunaticfringe on here....he will set you you up with some EBC pads that will help a lot. I agree 100% with Rhino1's post right above.

You could go to a radial master cylinder from ASB, this helps a lot and gives better feel at the lever.Or go with a 8 pot and radial master cylinder like I did , just use different pads such as Lindal golds or EBC as I found the stock ones grabby at low speeds.EBR also has a 6mm rotor and better mounting kits witch help getting rid of heat.As for the back , I find it does not have a lot of feel to it and might try some different pads next spring.Hope this helps.

Alright so far I think I'm going to with the EBR front 5mm finned rotor. The radial master cylinder is too much money for me right at this second if I'm going to be getting good pads as well. If I wanted to look into purchasing the EBC brake pads what website have you guys had good experiences with and which ones did you get? If not I will probably hit up lunaticfringe as referred @ Wiggle2

I'm just wondering if a floating rotor will be better than an EBR finned. Opinions?
Here is the one(s) I was looking at

http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-Buell-XB...9?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true#ht_1866wt_922

http://www.jpcycles.com/product/240-0226

Jpcycles also offers a rear floating as well. I'm assuming these are xb12r compatible since they are compatible with the lightning.

Honestly if your talking street use I would just get pads for now. Then if you still think its not enough then start upgrading. I think you will be happy with pads. To me for street use its a waste of money for that rotor but is your money.

I agree, I use my bike only on the street and with a cleaned up rotor(stock), new pads(cheap), new fluid, and stock 6 piston caliper it stops FAST. The rear locks up on my accidentally in panic stops at times as well. I see no issues with the stock brakes unless maybe in speeds excess 100mph...
