A couple weeks ago, I lost the riveted buell timing cover off my bike. Since then I have replaced it with redstang transparent timing cover, which looks great.

However, I would like to do something unique to my bike and had an idea the other day. I am thinking that using the combination of the transparent timing cover with LEDs I could do something cool.

Since I am a fan of Iron Man I thought I might be able to reproduce the piece in iron mans chest in the timing area.

I have a laser cutter available to me and have been working on getting this mocked up.

I don't have much time available, however, I figured if I started a thread I would be more motivated to get it done.

Here is what I have thus far.

Current Setup of bike with smoke timing cover.

Here is my inspiration for my piece I am making. If you google iron man arc core there are lots of build threads on how to make the props.

I drew this up using CorelDraw using dimensions that I measured so that it will fit in the space in the timing cover.

Here is a mock up of the pieces. I cut out using the file.

That is nerd-tastic!

Brilliant idea. Why not just make a real "Arc Reactor" and remove your battery?

I have a custom "iron man" headlight set up that would go good with that if your in the buying mood...

nope I cj the guy who made it gave it to me when he couldn't finish up some work I had paid him for. I haven't even used it, but he said it was not quite as bright as stock. I was thinking about converting it to HID bulbs, but I am putting my bike back as stock as possible.

This would be such a cool mod!!!! I'd for sure buy one if they weren't super expensive!!!

Cut some thin black rubber and hopefully the final part for the outer ring. The black rubber will look much better than electrical tape. I also used 1600 grit sandpaper to rough up the outer ring, so that when the LEDs are behind, it will scatter more light. Currently looking for thin copper wire to wrap the rubber with. I'll be checking out the craft shops this weekend. I also cut small marks in the outer ring as centering spots for when I install the rubber pieces.

Got 26 gauge wire at the craft store and finished up the outer piece. Here it is compared to my mock up. Also checked to see how well my measurements worked by placing it in the bike. I needed to sand just a hair of the edges so that it would fit tightly between the bolts of the timing cover.
