Buell Arc reactor build

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

I've had some messages about selling the buell reactor cores, however, I do not have the time on my hands to make them myself.

What I can do is make a kit that will come with most of the pieces.

The Kit would include the the outer ring (with or without the alignment marks), the inner ring (unpainted), the center circle, and clear timing cover. I will also include the copper wire I used to wrap.

What I cannot provide is the LEDs (however they can be ordered from the site mentioned earlier in the post, therefore you can pick the color) and the black rubber under the copper wire.

Is there any interest in this, and how much would it be worth to you? I'm trying to find out if this is feasible. I see a possibility of making a limited number of about 10 kits.

I'd pay 30-40 for the plastics. Most clear covers sell for around that much, and put me on the list[up]

Also as requested here is a picture of the back and the wiring that I did.

The copper wire I just twisted together and it seems to hold up fine.

I plan on running the wires through the hole at the bottom of the timing cover area. From there, I should be able to hide decently while I direct the wires to a source.

This is a really cool idea. I'm an electrician. I think I'm going to try to make my own. I'll post back if I get good results.

Monday (hopefully) will be the big day when it is all together. Just finished a 1400mi weekend trip on the buell. Plan on doing oil change, cleaning up the previous owners breather reroute, and installing the arc, maybe even wash the bike.

What do you connect the wires to for power? I'm not very good with electrical stuff, and this would be a cool little project, would have to do my own design of course :)

How much room is there in between the stand offs/cover mounting holes?

I assume that's where it's going to need to fit into. I'm currently without a drill so I can't drill out the rivets.

For mine, the ring with the lights, the outer diameter is 55mm and the inside is 37mm. I needed to slightly sand my piece in the two spots where the posts were to get it to fit snug. Hope that info helps.

It does, thank you. How do you plan on secure it in place so it can't move around?

Oh, one more question. How much depth do I have to work with? I want to do side mounted LEDs so avoid bright dots in the clear ring. But if I have to use back lit diffused light, I need to know what I have to work with. I wont get a drill for my rivets for a couple of days.

So I installed it a while back, just haven't had the time to put photos up.

The second pic is a close up and you can see the clear cover over the arc.

Sorry that the bike is REALLY dirty, just got back from a 1200mi weekend trip.

I actually don't like this as much as I originally thought I would, possibly slightly discouraged by blowing out all the LED's.

and that makes 100 posts!

I think it looks great just the sizing is a bit off. Needs to take up the whole area OR you need to paint the back ground back so it doesnt interfere with the reactor.
