So I did something stupid today. I overfilled the Buell with gas and when I did a u-turn to leave the gas station the Buell caught fire. My pants caught along with the rear of the bike. Luckily a guy moved quickly and grabbed a fire extinguisher. The damage: seat, rear signal, rear brake line, couple of wires, rear fender, and surface damage to the rear tire. If you have some spare parts that would help. Mostly a seat and rear brake line. I have extra signals and fixed the wires. I have a 2007 xb12Ss. Thank you!

Oh !!! Serious ??? Did the same thing on tuesday, except my bike did'nt catch in fire. Was really scared that would happen, but said to my self I was just being paranoid .... Don't know why that f-kin gun did'nt "click" off, the tank beeing full !
Good luck with your repairs ... you beeing ok.

I think the buell just wanted to do a fire burnout!

Glad youre ok though!

[up][up][up]you're ok, sucks for the bike...I never insert the nozzle into the tank depressing the rubber around the nozzle to fill up, hold it just about a 1/2" into the tank while using my finger to hold the boot back to fill up. much easier to keep control and avoid over filling as you can see how much fuel you're putting in the her

First of all I am glad to hear you were not injured. Whew. This is scary. I had no idea that could happen. Never heard of that happening to anyone.

I want to thank you for taking the time to share this for the reason of how many people you are helping - by them having this information. Coutless riders will now use much care not to overfill their rides. You are to be commended. One rep point vote from me to you. [up]

Sorry to hear about the bike, but at least your OK. I've got a rear brake line of or my 06 Ss. How about 20+shipping.

I will take the brake line. Is stainless or the stock rubber one. Begger can't be choosers! Thanks. So I also need to order the gas vent line. Mine kinda melted. If you ever have any doubt you overfilled your tank turn the key on and off to see if fuels comes leaks right in front the rear tire. This causes the fuel pump to cycle and it will push out and extra fuel. I may do a catch can mod for the fuel run off.

I was lucky the fire on pants went out quick. My jeans don't even have a mark on them. If it wasn't for the damaged bike it was pretty cool. The fire was almost as high my head. I don't know how it didn't damage more stuff.

I will take a pic of the damage tomorrow. Free brake for just shipping sounds great. I am on a budget. I was lucky!!!

Damn that's scary man! I'm always very cautious when pumping gas in these bikes. It goes from dark to full pretty quick and can over flow easily.

Typically I barely even pull the trigger and take it slow for this reason!

Glad youre ok!
