Even at $300 it wouldn't be a bad deal considering what some of these have gone for lately, I saw one a few weeks back in way worse shape sell for almost $500, and it really was in terrible shape. Anyway, it could easily be fixed using the technique in the vid below:
I did this to repair my header after my bike slide on the right side a good 200'. After polishing it looks better then new, not a mark on it.
You don't need the fancy capping equipment for the pipe ends either, just make sure what you use holds or you be doing this (skip to the 2 min mark)
