Hello, I recently bought an xb12r and love it! But I am also about 5'6" and the bike is to tall. I was wondering what would be the easiest way to lower it about 50mm? I've looked into sinking the triple tree which could work, but when it comes to the rear suspension I was wondering if there is a shorter spring I could install? I currently have the blue spring that comes stock on the xb12r.

2" is a lot.

I'm not sure what your previous riding experience is, but if you're new to sport bikes, I'd suggest allowing yourself the chance to get used to the saddle height first.

If after a month, it's still not working for you, try shaving the saddle.

If you still find you need the bike lower, try sliding the forks up a bit, and one of those lowering collars on the rear shock. I'd recommend chassis alteration as a last resort however due to the funky handling you may induce, and the necessity to modify the side stand while you're at it...

Does it matter what year the SCG shock is? And that won't mess up the handling at all? I have an 03 xb9. And anyone have a spare one available? Haha

+1 on the rear lowering link and sliding the forks a little. I'm 5'7" and fit my buddies stock r ok. But on my lightning I run the low seat and has lower pegs right off the bat. Where are you located...If I'm close you can compare some bikes.

Denman- Any year Scg shock will work. If you want to match the front you can get with Scg forks. EricZ is selling a set on here. The forks will fit your bike as is being an 03. If using the forks on a 05+ you would need the 03-04 lower triple clamp. All year Scg forks are the same diameter as the 03-04 forks.

I just put Scg forks on my tuber.... i measured the XB standard forks and the Scg forks and they measured 1.5" difference off the bike, once installed they lowered the bike just a little more then 3/4"

Pur pony- ok great, thanks! Another 3/4 would be perfect!

Restlessrustler- not sure if you were talking to me haha, but I live in NH
