Hey guys,

I've been a member here for several years and have appreciated all the help I've recieved previously. I have gone through my manual and also browsed through this website and I am still running into issues.

Bike: 2003 Buell Xb9R (later 03 Model)

Problem: A few months ago the power of the motor wasnt getting to the wheels...I would be in 5th gear going roughly 45-50 at 3,000rpm. I assumed it was a clutch adjustment so I followed the manual and adjusted the clutch in all areas recommend. Still at roughly 3,000 im going 45-50 mph.

I went ahead and ordered a new EnergyOne clutch. This is my second time to replace clutch plates (Had to on my 06 r1). The Install went smoothly without any hickups. I also went ahead and replaced the clutch cable as well. I put the primary cover back on and put in ATF type F (recommended by EnergyOne).

Today took it out and noticed slightly higher speed but still not nearly what it should be.

Symptoms: In first gear, When the clutch is entirely pull back (to the extent that it literally cannot be pulled any further) it will idle in 1st with moving. However, within millimeters of the grips, the clutch begins engaging.

Any ideas on whats going on? It seems as though I am still not able to get 100% of the power to the actual wheels. This bike should be going 100mph+! I truly appreciate your time and help!

Two things possible. One is the freeplay adjustment of the clutch. How much play is in your clutch lever before you get tension from the clutch? You should have 1/16" - 1/8" between the clutch lever and the clutch lever perch before you get any tension in the cable.

Two is you could have a cracked primary cover where the ball/ramp assembly sits. Unlikely if you have had this problem for a long time as once the cover begins to crack, it will break off soon afterwards.
