What up everybody!!! I am the New Guy here & I go by LuckeyB but most just call me Luckey. I was looking for something to ride for transportation because I am/was vehicle less. I came across 2 2000 Buell Blasts on FB Marketplace for $300, well that's what I ended up paying anyway, went and took a look and decided to purchase them. Never ridden before, never heard of a Buell Blast before, and honestly didn't know what I was even looking for when I went to look at them, I guess to see what they were. Anyway looked whole to me so I got them. Got to working on it to get it running and found out both are missing the entire air box assembly. I do not like the way the air box looks so I'm not looking to put one back on it and the parts bike already had Dan's super boot on it so I'm going to swap it over to the bike that runs or will run but the problem I'm having is I have no idea how I'm supposed to replace the air box like what am I supposed to screw to the carburetor to put an air filter on? That's a hard question to get answered I've looked just about everywhere and they don't really tell you nobody really tells you what goes there. It'll say you can put a velocity stack there but does that connect straight to the carburetor they don't tell you and then does the air filter connect straight to it It doesn't say it's really hard to figure out I have been trying to figure it out for about 2 weeks now anybody have an answer for me?

Yes. Get an air filter that fits directly on the carb. Done.

All Buell Blasts use a 40MM Mikuni CV (constant velocity) carburetor Harley Davidson part # 27404-00YA. It is a very common side draft style Jap carb. The filtered-air end of the carb mouth has 3 threaded mounting holes. Simply go on Ebay and purchase any air filter specifically suited to this carb brand and size. MEASURE TO CONFIRM but the OD of the air cleaner end of the carb should be approx 60MM. Hundreds of suitable air filters on Ebay on the cheap.
