I'll never understand why people would buy that crap until the technology comes thru with some real mileage and speed.

There's an electric scooter developement outfit up by me, I saw some kid come ripping outta there one day on what was clearly a prototype sportbike-I knew instantly what it was& it looked cool! I know it's on utube ,doing laps @ sears point(oh wait, they dont call it that nomo!)I'll try to find it...

hey while the zero doesn't have speed it does have decent torque like most electric motors... its hittin 40 in 3 seconds thats not to shabby it would be great for me I live 7-10 miles from from work speed limits on the way range from 25-55 averaging 40 for most of it and heavy on pigs as long as I didnt need to go else where really it would be great but even if i did I could plug it in at work

Yes one of my test labs are across the street from their HQ in San Carlos, but Tesla actually has the speed and mileage down.

And price : ) speed cost money. You have both with Tesla.

Exactly my point-now if we could get a sporty bike version...
Although the price tag would probably bite!

I saw a video of Jay Leno testing one of them, and it seemed pretty decent. He seemed to enjoy it, which is good considering some of the stuff he gets to ride to compare it to.

I understand the idea of waiting to buy something until all the kinks are worked out, but if no one buys them now, they're never going to get any faster.

That's like anyone asking why anyone would buy a Buell XB before they actually figured out how to squeeze a real amount of HP out of them. You never would've seen the 1125cr if people weren't willing to put out some cash on cyclones and lightnings all these years.

Never count out the people who just have so much money they need something to spend it on either.

Never understood why someone would want one? Here in Ontario Canada, you can legally ride an electric "bicycle" on the road. No insurance, no plates, no licence. Just but it and go. They can only top out at around 20 mph but it's transportation right? A guy I work with paid around $1700 Cdn. for his, he lives in an apartment and doesn't pay for hydro. Guess what? FREE transportation!!! Not what I need for a bike but it works great for some people. Wayne

I know what you mean, but selling product isn't needed to progress a company and technology forward, large funding from investors and very smart people are what's needed.

electric is the future and the isle of man ttzero is prob the race i enjoy following most, now. zero is so lucky to gain muscle, abe askenazi. and they are going to need it, cause the motocsysz team is looking hotter than ever. like the early days of honda (so i've read), zero has made a great leap forward and are showing commitment to long term American success through innovation. something harley doesn't understand or know. no offense to my harley comrads, but, it's true. marissa miller is hot, but she is the best thing harley's got. really, we are so lucky to born in time to watch the sparks of revolution fly and experience first hand the evolution of sportbike racing . . . . i wish, i just wish we could see a team ebr thrash an american pegasus-1 domination style past csysz and team agni! screw domination, we want Annihilation! sorry, but the thread touched my softest nerve on this early afternoon cq day . . . . .
