Hi all I have just bought a xb9, after selling my xb12 6 months ago to fund a project.
Just have a question
The xb9 I bought is a 2004 with 3000 miles on it, but it was running about 930rpm, with a standard exhaust.
I have put a quill exhaust on it and reset the tps but it was still running at 930rpm's with 5.1 tps.
but if I turn the revs up on the same tps screw? The revs go up to 1050rpm and do the tps value go's up aswell is that rite? Or is it another screw for the idling?
Mans thanks

if i'm reading your post correctly you reset or checked the tps reading # and it is 5.1 correct? if so that is fine. the idle speed adjustment screw is on the left side of bike between frame/tank and air scoop. that screw is the sole idle adjustment speed device. it will NOT change your tps value.

So the tps adjuster is only for the tps, have you a picture of the idle screw as I can not find it.
Many thanks

that screw next to the scoop will affect both your idle speed and tps values. watch the DIY video on youtube of how to do a tps reset.

I watched that video on YouTube, that's why I am confused because I done what they said on video, wind the screw back to zero, then two more turns.
I reset it to 5.1 but it was idling about 930rpm but the video show them adjusting it again up to 1000-1100rpm
But when I done that the value went up from 5.1 to 7.1 I don't know if that's ok.
I have taken bike for a spin and it drives nice.

you're original post and now your latest post seem to indicate some confusion re.what's going on here and making adjustments. watch the video again that you mentioned. set your tps to 5.1-5.5 value. turn bike off....disconnect cable...suit up....take for a ride and generate some engine/oil heat. THEN readjust idle speed to your liking and YES, it is the left side scoop area screw. when doing this think independently of tps and idle speed. just adjust your warm idle speed to your ears and bikes' tach and stop looking at the tps value.
