I started building a muffler today. Im gonna put baffles in it similar to a flowmaster also 3 zoomie 1" discharge tubes off of each side

Another pic of the end view. It's 3 .5 " tall and 7" wide. I'm gonna try cutting slots for the baffles and sliding them through and welding from the outside

How do you know where you are going to put the baffles? The baffles in a muffler are placed at exact locations based on the frequency of the sound waves they are designed to reflect back. There are online calculators that can provide the numbers. Are you going to line it with any exhaust packing or other sound absorbing materials? Help with the tinny sound.

I am interested to see how this turns out. Good luck!

I'm gonna wing it on baffle placement. I have built some in the past for trucks. Ill start with an inverted v and then two baffles on the outer edges to push the sound waves together then another inverted v to split them again. At that point the muffler will separate into a left and right chamber bounce them together one more time and then out. Not sure yet on packing material ill bolt theend on for now and see how it sounds

Sounds like you're building a Flowmaster 40-series or Thrush muffler.

Those large flat panels are going to sing like a church choir. You need some sort of packing or lots of reinforcement to prevent those resonances.

You need to read up on baffle placement to correctly cancel out certain frequencies depending on the cam. Moving a baffle 1/2" can make your engine fall on its face if the reflecting sound waves hammer the exhaust pulse as it's trying to leave the header at certain rpm's and their multiples.

Exhaust isn't just "slap it together and see what happens" as most people think. There is a LOT of science and physics behind it.

Looked online for baffle placement but I couldn't find any. Im gonna use the way I did my truck muffler . Here is the layout
