I am having a hard time pickin up the tire on my buell xb12r in any gear besides first it is probly just me I am guessing an help.

I can in 2nd fairly easy, have to clutch it and pop front but I can do it.

I know lots of guys can do it basically when ever they want. If you do a stand up wheelie you can use the pass. foot pegs and basically just bounce into a wheelie with very little throttle, but it takes skill.

In no way am I a wheelie expert but I have seen it done so I know it is possible.

Ha yeah I have tired standing I can get it a lil if you go on youtube an type in just bought a moped these guys are crazy on these buells they wheelie for miles I don't get it!

I have an 09 Firebolt and I can easily wheelie in 1st and 2nd. I don't try to but it just happens by accident if I give it too much throttle. What a rush! I am 200 lbs and sit at the very front of the seat so I am suprised you can't wheelie as easy as I can. Nail the throttle at 3-4k and mine comes right up. Kinda scary actually!

Sorry, you said besides first? I can get it in second if i gun it, but it's not intentional. I try to ride it the way it was meant to. Good luck and be safe!

Warning! Very Graphic! Poor bike!

You probably just need some practice. Are you new to wheelies, or is it just the buell you're having trouble on? I used to be able to stand up my triumph speed four in 3rd gear without the passenger pegs or the clutch. I'd just stand up on my pegs and toss my weight around. There were guys on "real" 600s that would always give me a hard time for riding the triumph who wouldn't even get theirs up in 3rd no matter what they did, so just keep at it.

If you're standing up, just make sure you're throwing your weight back, and not up. You can just up and down all day long that way and get no where.

Ok thanks man now that I think bout it I knida throw myself up an not back so I will try that I can wheelie my dirtbike pretty good but that is way dif but thanks for the help I will let you know how it goes

i don't really understand why you are having any problems at all pulling the front tire of a 12r... if you have a 9 i would understand....

i currently have a 1125r... bad ass by the way... but my last bike was a 2004 xb12r.. also my first road bike... but first gear... no problems.... second gear... no problems.. you have to find the highest point of torque the in r's without being on redline... usually gonna be 2500-3000 so in second gear that would be if i remember right somewhere right around 40 or 45mph.... stands right up to balance point at 55 and can slow it down as slow as 35 before it starts floating on the rear tire....

3rd gear is a little bit of a work... but if you get it to bout 70mph.. preload your suspension a little bit... its going to come right up for you too... if you are standing up... not sitting down....

jsut filling in my 2 cents....

or if you got balls of steel and arent' afraid of the torque of the v-twin... just shift it... not recommended at all...

i have been having the same problem. i am a new owner of a xb12r and i am working on wheelies right now. last year i rode a gsxr 1000 and i could wheelie for for miles but it actually takes a little skill on this bike. i never had to actually clutch wheelies before now. i'll get it eventually!

I'm curious about this too, but not so much in regards to standing it up on the highway. I'm used to smaller bikes that you can ride in the twisties and just hammer the throttle in any gear coming out of turns, what's the difference between the xb9 and xb12 in this regard? If you're coming out of a turn and just twist the throttle the full way in 2nd will the xb12 front wheel lift itself, or will it only come up that way if coerced by standing up or preloading the forks?

on 3rd you have to snap the clutch. any wheelie matter of fact. then again i dont like fast wheelies... i like em slow. great way to learn balance point is on a quad, btw quads and our buells feel the same dont know why but they do.

ok guys, here's my 2 cents: first & second gear wheelies no problem, it normally happens unintentionally under hard acceleration. I have learned where that "sweet spot" is to accelerate as fast as possible with out lifting the front end, but it did take some getting used to. as far as the 12R lifting when you nail it coming out of a turn; yes, this is why i said that it took some getting used to. heavy acceleration and wheelies are both a lot of fun, but please remember that there is a time & place for all of it; ride safe!

if you want to learn to ride out wheelies for a long ways you need to start out ridin in second a far as possible, cause you will have enough gyro effect to hold you straight... then go backwards and go to first gear and learn your brake control and balance point till your pretty good... then you can try to get it up in 3rd but is pretty tough to do even for me and ive rode for stunt team for quite a few years now... the right way to do it is get comfortable with your balance point and get up in 2nd and shift up... i ride quite a few wheelies in 5th gear and 2500 rpms cruisin down the highway... but you have to know what your doing...

if all you want to do is stunt i suggest buying a crunch peice (stunt bike) buells arnt meant to stunt... if you lay it down our gonna wreck the frame and the bike will be totaled by insurance if you turn it in... also with a v-twin you also start running into oil problems of you dont fill the swingarm FULL of oil, i learned this from experiance...

im sure some ppl will disagree with me on some of this but im just throwing out my knowledge and experiance so take from it what you will...

when i get back to my house i will post some videos up of 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies on my 12.... no clutch required in 3rd and i was a race ecm with k&n and race exhaust.... but i could do the same thing on a bone stock 12....
