I had a local shop screw up my rims and are getting them repowder coated. We are having holy hell trying to match the color. Can anyone please help me find a color that is close or know where I can get the exact color?

Here is a picture of the bike. Thanks guys.

I do believe the color is called sunset Orange. I would contact Al at ASB. Im sure he either has what you need or he could tell you where to get it.

That's not Buell "Sunset Orange". That is Buell "Translucent Amber". You may have a hard time getting a powder coat color to match.

It's translucent orange, that color is a PITA to find but it seems that bare metal with an amber (turn signal coloring) coating to get the translucent effect. gets it pretty close.

Do you guys know who makes the powder or someone that can get it close?

Ill contact Al also and see what he knows.

After a ton of color swatches ordered and hours of test peices sprayed this is what I came up with. Its a sunset orange base with a gold flake topcoat. What do you guys think!?

NICE! I have a bike here with one black rim and one gold,, missed a few front Gold rims on Feebay, sometimes they go cheap, other times a LOT of $$$$$. Was debating about just painting both my rims using House of Kolor Kandys, at least then i can control the colors, and do it to a formula where it can be replicated.
So Im assuming you ended up with Powder coat? and where did you source the colors from? what did it end up costing? Im sure many people would be interested to know. I can paint my own stuff pretty cheap,, and with paint i can touch it up if I need to, But not everyone paints and some real world costs an experience can be helpful for people looking at this.:)

Mantoe! way to go.. looks like you got it damn close! ..possibly even better and more durable being two stages, as the factory coating is very thin to maintain the translucency over the raw aluminum base! I know on both my sets of ambers there are actually thin areas that show-up under the right light, (but mostly disappear under indirect sunlight, I'm certain it's that way with all of them)

Care to share the product numbers with us? ;)

Oh yeah.. how about some close-up pics of your rims!! (in sunlight and shade)

Once again, way to go.. your bike looks great!

I'll be more than happy to share the info with my fellow Buell buds. :D:

I'm going to keep this post short and wait to do the detailed one till I get to a computer. As thumpin stated, the powder was sourced from prizmatic powders and the colors are pacific sunset as the base and flaming gold as the top coat. Ill take some pics this evening and post them up too. I couldn't be happier with this color combo.
Oh and I got a local guy powder coat them turn key for $200.

The guy who did my tubes accidentally matched my amber wheels almost identically. We weren't actually shooting for it, but when it was done it was damn near a perfect match. Really turned out nice.

As EricZ stated above, it's a translucent powdercoat. You can actually see the raw aluminum through the powder coat.

Advantage Powder Coat in Sherman, TX.

@ netty.. those fork tubes look great.. did they strip the old clear and polish before coating? ..your bike is stunning!

Mantoe.. that powder color is just the bomb, man.. it's so rich and vibrant. Oem amber gets a bit dull under shade, but really comes alive in sunlight.. how about taking a few close-ups, from about a foot away, under direct sunlight so we can see how the gold flake "pops"!

They did. Sandblasted them, then powder coated. Thanks! Put a lot of work into it. Unfortunately I don't ride it much anymore. Stays in the garage more often then not.
