My new invention, wrist mirrors!!!

No we were welding nuts into the bars and I guess all the heat messed up the threads so I had to ride home from my buddy's place (he has the tig) with no mirrors then run a tap through the nuts at my house. I thought it was pretty genious to tape the mirror to my wrist lol.

Anyway here's what we did:

Welded a washer to the end of the bars then a nut to the washer

Here's how it looks with the bar end mirrors installed

This worked out perfect. The washer was the exact same diameter as the bar, and the washer plus nut thickness pushes the mirror out just enough not to interfere with the throttle. I'm a happy camper, no more issues with bar end mirror mounts...

Forgot to mention we learned something about welding. The heat screwed up the threads on the nut. I would have run a tap through it but my buddy didn't have one and I was an hour from my house. So we cut the nut off and welded another one on with a SS bolt in it thinking that'd work. Well it didn't. When removing the bolt it snapped off. So we cut it off again and tried a 3rd time with a regular steel bolt in it and that seemed to work. We were able to remove the steel bolt, but then a SS bolt of the same threads wouldn't go in. Ended up snapping one off on one side.

That's why i rode home with a mirror taped to my wrist lol. This morning I drilled the broken bolt out then ran a tap through each side and it works perfect. I guess when welding SS you need to run a tap through it afterwards.
