I just got the clear alternatives integrated LED tail light kit for my 2003 XB9S And could not get it to work completely.

I installed according to the instructions and it would not turn on. When I connected the back ground terminal from the circuit board to a grounded spot on the bike (my frame) the lights worked perfectly, but when I applied the brake it shorted out the ignition circuit.

My initial thought was that I was missing the ground connection from the lights completely. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Please help me get my bike back on the road.

Here is a diagram, hope it helps. You hook the resistors in line where your signals used to hook up. Hook your new signal leads on the HOT side of the resistors. The Tail/Break and the ground all hooked up as the stock.

My install pick is not so clear. But here it is. All my wires go to the harness, none ground on the frame.

Dude Rep, Im sorry. I got it working after I realized I had crossed a wire in the taillight assembly. Pics to come soon.

i got my tail light from xblights.com the wires plug right into the factory ones and it lookes awesome i got the integrated turn signals in mine

yup...the diagram above clearly shows integrated turn signals as well in the clear alternatives.

clear alternatives____ $100
xb lights ____________ $300

xb lights advertises their lights are "way" brighter... Well? Are they $200 brighter?

i have not seen clear alternatives lights but for ease of hook up xb lights are way easier compaired to what looks like clear alternatives are but i could be wrong

Everything I've ever heard as a comparison point to the "you get what you pay for" answer to that one. Robert at XBLights is the Hawk or Odie of taillights.
