Hey guys,

I've been a member here for several years and have appreciated all the help I've recieved previously. I have gone through my manual and also browsed through this website and I am still running into issues.

Bike: 2003 Buell Xb9R (later 03 Model)

Problem: A few months ago the power of the motor wasnt getting to the wheels...I would be in 5th gear going roughly 45-50 at 3,000rpm. I assumed it was a clutch adjustment so I followed the manual and adjusted the clutch in all areas recommend. Still at roughly 3,000 im going 45-50 mph.

I went ahead and ordered a new EnergyOne clutch. This is my second time to replace clutch plates (Had to on my 06 r1). The Install went smoothly without any hickups. I also went ahead and replaced the clutch cable as well. I put the primary cover back on and put in ATF type F (recommended by EnergyOne).

Today took it out and noticed slightly higher speed but still not nearly what it should be.

Symptoms: In first gear, When the clutch is entirely pull back (to the extent that it literally cannot be pulled any further) it will idle in 1st with moving. However, within millimeters of the grips, the clutch begins engaging.

Any ideas on whats going on? It seems as though I am still not able to get 100% of the power to the actual wheels. This bike should be going 100mph+! I truly appreciate your time and help!

Start over on your Adjustments. That is easy enough to do. First do the Slack at the Front adjuster. Make sure to Read up on the Manuals here on the Forum. The Manuals may not match your Exact year but in that area[clutch] will still work very well.
While you are adjusting the cable [make sure] to Remove the Derby Cover/3/screws and watch the Action of the Cable while you pull the Lever. There should be no more than 1/16 of and Inch play up at the Lever when it is released almost touching the Perch.Down at the Adjuster Screw on the Ramp assembly check the free play where the cable hooks up(Ramp) to it just a slight bit of Slack there also.
Watch how much it takes to move the Ramp Assembly when you start pulling the Lever. Once that is complete then Adjust the Screw{flathead]properly on your Clutch.Adjust it (screw)all the way out.
Then start to Turn it in about 1/2 turn at a time. You will need to have it either on a pitt stand OR Every time you adjust it go out and GENTLY Shift it to see if it is Enguaging properly. You may have to start the Flat Screw over in the Adjustment to get it right.
Sounds like the Clutch just isn't Enguaging completely. When it comes to the Buells the Barrett Clutches OR American Sportbike.com AND yes even the Dealer is a much BETTER and More Informed Buell Experts. Yes the money is a little different but NO Headaches at all!
As for the TYPE (F, fluid) OR Formula+ PLEASE change that Fluid once you get the Clutch to enguage properly. AmsOIL 20/50 is best for the Transmissions in the XB line on Bikes. That Fluid WILL NOT hold up more than 700/miles.
The Heat issues over 350 plus Degrees on a Hot day that Fluid just won't protect it Especially the Transmissions Internal Gearing.
AND your [Stator] will not stay cool enough with that Thin Water like Fluid in it.I'm Assuming that all has been properly replaced OR repaired internally on the Buell Tranny. Recheck up on the Manuals here on the Forum to get some extra Information as you need it to get riding again.
If you don't get some Synthetic Oils 20/50 in your Buell Engine AND your Transmission Especially the 2003 and UP/XB models of Bikes, you will be Buying either another Transmission OR a Different Bike. If you need post up.Good Luck *Jimi

On the Stalling of the Bike it is possible the Safety switch up at the Clutch Lever Perch may be damaged or just getting worn out. Nor sure cause I can't see so you mat need to check that once you get your Clutch to Enguage.Hopefully the parts are correct and all will go well. *Jimi
