I've got a group of about 7 guys that I ride with - Harley's mostly, no Buells. We went on an all day ride yesterday and one of the guys set a couple of us up with his comm devices. I wasn't thrilled about it at first but it turned out to be a good thing. We were able to better coordinate the group and keep a tighter formation by the rear rider giving feedback to the lead. I also found out that you can Bluetooth music from your phone. I usually do listen to music and always have issues with the earbuds popping out.. I'm on my third pair in 2 months. Even if I'm riding alone I could use it to listen to my tunes. Anybody use these things? My buddy's are Scala so I may get the same brand but I'm not sure. There's a bunch of different ones on the market that all say they're good and the prices vary a lot ... None are cheap though.

I have both the scala q2, and the G4!!! I only use the q2 nowadys for passengers on the rare occasion I have on. But I love the G4!!! I use it for music 80% of the time, but it is convenient to be able to take a phone call when I get one....

I bought both of mine used for about $75 apiece

have a Scala Q2 as well and am picking up a G9 here soon. It's such a great thing to have for communication and listening even to the radio on the long stretches. I really recommend it for anyone that's interested in buying one.

I have some smh5's with the upgraded speakers i picked up used for 100 bucks for the wife and i. We did your first ride on Saturday with them and it made the ride much better being able to talk and listen to music. She made the comment after the ride that the music made riding way better. She's not sure she could drive and listen though lol guess that's a little complex for her being a new rider. I'm going to be getting another for my son for when we do family trips him being 6 all i get for sings from him is a tap on the leg and a thumbs down then we have to pull over to find out what he needs

I have a set of Cardo scala rider q'2... If me and the girl go on a ride with them 90% of our convos are making fun of other people on the road trying to sign things out...

It seems like the Scala's are really good. While I was thinking about what model I wanted to buy, my buddy went ahead and bought a pair of G9's and emailed me that one is for me and my share is $197 total. I guess the decision was made for me - LOL! That's a good price though and I really wanted the newest technology so I'm psyched. Even when I'm alone it will make it easier to listen to music instead of wearing those annoying ear buds. Once you experience using these things, you won't want to ride without one.

Im glad someone started this thread. I put on several rides per year, as well as often I have friends from out of the area come visit and we end up going for a ride. (I try to keep a loaner bike running.tagged and insured, but not always easy, I own a LOT of bikes, but few of them currently run)

It depends on the circumstances,,,,, so far the Norton club rides are usually 10-25 riders and we stay together pretty well, but i wait at stop signs or important turns often until i see Tail end Charlie. Some of the other rides however have been barely cohesive chaos,, lost all kinds of the riders, missed turns, people stopping or taking detours, or off peeing in the bushes and missed the group. I was hoping to see a cheaper alternative that works,, but it appears these Scala units seem to be the best choice??? I looked at their website and some reviews last night.

Anyone else has some suggestions please post,,,,,,,I saw some of the "Chattterbox" units and seem to be cheaper, good reviews and user opinions very much appreciated,

thanks again for posting this.

The only ones I've used are acala, they are nice units!!! If you have the money I'd get the g4 or newer so you dot have to hardware your iPhone or mp3 into the acala. The g4 and g9 are able to pick up mp3 wirelessly

I think the Scala's have a long history with good quality. Thus, more people in a group would probably own them. I almost bought them.

However, I ended up buying the UClear HBC200's. They use a boomless mic, support a larger group, and the range is expanded through hopping. I also liked that the whole thing was just a lot smaller to mess with. They connect via intercom, my iphone and zumo 660 all wirelessly.

I've got a boomless mic on my q2, it's an aftermarket mic, but I like it better than the boom
