Hi guys, well this weekend (we are a day in front of usa) :p Ive started pulling my firebolt down to do a custom turbo setup. Ive had to buy a 2004 frame from the states to replace my 2007 frame since the later frame doesnt have the 'hole' to accomodate the turbo's intake plumbing.

My question is, im going to change the head gaskets to cometic 40" and the cylinder gaskets to cometic 20" in the hope of lowering compression to something more suitable. Living in the tropics is no good for boosted, high compression and high ambient motors. Does anyone know what sort of compression this setup may achieve or would I perhaps need to run two head gaskets?

Ive decided to video my progress this time as usually I just end up doing things without documenting it. Not much to show at the moment just a stripped bike.

I will see if I can find some numbers so that I can do the math and try to figure out what compression you will get with one and two head gaskets. I should have something by morning.

Actually it didnt take me near as long to find the info. I ran the numbers and if you add the single 40 and 20 you will go to 8.89:1 from 10:1. If you add the exrta 40 you will go down to 7.98:1.
Hope this answers the questions you had or at least helps you make your mind up.
Make sure you keep us updated. Ive always wanted to turbo a bike, but never have. Ive put a few on different cars, but never on a bike.

Thats great news ill order them out today. Thanks heaps for your help. Im thinking 8:1 would be amazing and would be able to run 8psi boost on pump fuel without problems. Ive always felt the bike is a little too 'heady' when riding around in traffic.

Ive camcordered everything so far cause my camera has decided to **** itself. So far just me rambling and talking to myself.

Once again cheers for the info will post in a week or so for an update.

sounds like it should be lowered with pistons not raising the head,,quench area will be raised resulting in loss of power

hello people ! just planing a turbo job for my 99 x1 , does anyone know how sore and sorry went with his??
and does anyone know weather you can still bye an aerocharger?? tryed ringing the number in the usa and it was disconected i think ! planing to put some low comp pistons in 8-1 i think copper head gasget, modifie the fuel pump if anyone has any ideas how to up the pressure? think you replace the reg! v-rod injectors ecmspy to + wide band 02 sencer and gage to tune make a new 02 sencer in front exhast, and thats about it i think?!! unless i have to use a conventioal turbo !! the aerocharger you can mount on it side witch would make mounting to the exhast very easy especially not needing oil lines! like the others! any advice would be good ??
