Not trying to stir the pot here, but I can see what Jasonxb9 is saying. Not that I disagree with the assessment of the system. It sucks. They treat us like money instead of the people that keep this country running with our tax dollars. The system is often corrupt in so many places. As a motorcyclist, they're usually against you every step of the way, unless you get a cop or judge that rides or is a bike enthusiast. That much is obvious with ridiculous stuff like exhaust stickers for decibel ratings and etc being passed. It's really nothing new though. The cops in NYC have a quota on the number of tickets they hand out a day. One cop admitted it on camera and caught backlash for it and the city has denied it ever since. Even thought they say the system works, everyone's been screwed by it sometime or another.
Most people will acknowledge this before ever getting on a bike. It sounds as though you knew you were speeding but you were looking to get off on a technicality and when they overlooked protocol (rights violation/injustice) and waved off your defense or chance to present the technicality, you got upset. By speeding, you put yourself at the mercy of a corrupt system. It's unfortunate that in this day and age, its something we have to worry about but it doesn't make it any less real. The same way as its unfair to be a responsible rider and get grouped together with a guy stunting his busa on a public highway. It happens though and the only way to make a distinction is through how you ride.
Do I always ride my bike under the speed limit? no... but if i'm given a ticket for speeding (haven't been caught yet) and I know I was speeding... Its a battle I lost the second I broke the limit.. not the second I got caught or the second they waved off my excuse. If you had been passing this cop doing 30mph 10 seconds after your friend passed her doing 90, do you think the situation would have been the same and you would have been put in a position to have your rights overlooked? I understand this was just venting about the system. Perhaps it was the subject line that maybe had people read into it a certain way. (i.e. I broke the law, so I should break another one to rectify the situation.) You can't control the system, but you can control how you ride.
Running next time might help you or it might help you hit and kill someone, you didn't pose a danger to originally (which is what the speeding tickets about) UptheMaiden brings up the smartest thing I have seen people do... have your own evidence. Onboard cameras, pictures, Gps speedos, etc. Of course, this is just my opinion.
