custom paint buells post pics

I know its not a Buell, but im repainting this hoopty for the dealer i work for. Lookin for some ideas on a simple paint job that pretty much nebody would like

When I painted my brothers bike, I stripped all the old paint off, the rinsed the paint stripper residue off with water. After this I quit for the day and the next day all the metal had random shapes of brown (surface rust) all over it. I sooooo badly wanted to just clear coat directly over this as it looks awesome but I feared the rust would continue to spread. I know I'm not posting any cool pics here, but thought this would be a good thread to ask my question....would the rust continue to spread under the clear coat?

This was done in my garage with rattle can paint. Flat black primer, gloss black base, and clear. All duplicolor paint IIRC from autozone. Cost me roughly $200 for all the paint, stripper, sand paper, visqueen(to block off in my garage), tape, etc... Been 2+ years and still looks great.
 
hey fellas just got mine all put together after working on it since November gave her a new model name (XB1125R) i have a thread on her in the user's bike section check her out if you wanna. I personally call her "The Dark Angel Tiffany". Hope you all enjoy what I've done to her.
