When I twist the throttle quickly the gas hits the vacuum piston and bounces out of the carb. I don't think I have a vacuum leak and the piston isn't hanging up. Does anyone know how to correct this problem? The cv carb is on a 2001 m2 cyclone.

You're actually seeing what's called "fuel standoff". There's not much you can do about it, all carbs experience this to some degree.

Cams, intake, and exhaust all have an effect on it.

Replace that vacuum junk with a mikuni hsr42.

Edit: The cv40 can be dialed in but pretty much everyone agrees the mikuni has better throttle response. Additionally it will support higher hp if you start modifying the heads and such.
