Hi All,
Ordered two H3 HID kits from DDM for my 05 XB9SX. Kit was straightforward, no problems with the wiring. However, I found the base of their bulb so slim that it would just fall through the hole in the headlight bucket. I took the stock bulb that was in there and modified the housing to receive the HID bulb and retain it with the factory wire clip but has anyone else run into this? I went to the autoparts store and looked at the aftermarket H3 bulbs (like the silverstars) & it had the same small base as the HID kit. Is there a correct adapter to buy and I failed the night's IQ challenge or has this always been the case since technically these are halogen housings that are not designed properly for HID? I ordered the 55W 3K kit for low beam and 35W 5K kit for highbeam. Both on SPST 30AMP's...couldn't be happier. Had to lower the housing slightly but looks great!

The 55w is actually NOT recommended for small housings. Just fyi. It generates more heat in a tiny space. The 35w is usually recommended for this application. Its posted in their site.

Oh darn. Newbie rookie fail. One of several, I'm sure. I even have the service manual and parts book. Well, if you're now screwing up, I guess you're not learning. Thanks guys!

If you're not doing your research before you buy things you're not learning. It only takes a minute to look up what bulb you need and what a week for the new bulbs to come in? [smirk]

HIDs run cooler than halogens, and those factory halogens are 55w, therefore 55w HIDs should be better off than factory bulbs.

For what its worth, I run dual 55w DDM's in my bolt not one problem, and I have taken the projectors apart this past year, no flaking or one sign of a failure to come.

i'm on the same boat with oh9bolt, no problems and i have the same set up as him for a year now

I put a low beam spoon in my bright side projector, so I have low beams only. It has helped so far before everyone would flick their brights at me, I would flick my finger at them.

I like that idea. It's much better than some people's idea (I won't mention who) of taking the spoon out to make 2 high beams. That's just dangerous and stupid.

And here is a little tip for those of you who think that blinding people is OK. Intoxicated drivers tend to have a much higher rate of head on accidents. That's because they end up driving towards bright lights. Your high beams are their targets.

Lol I believe I know who you are talking about! It gives a nice cut off and was a free mod thanks to a member on here for giving me theirs!

Tough crowd! Guess ill be more dilligent in my research! Well, I love my setup. I managed to do the whole thing with harnesses and reverse harnesses so if something goes wrong ill return it to stock. Hopefully someone can read this and learn from my silly mistake.

Any one got any pics of the installation.
Planning to do a dual bi-xenon installation with halo lights.

Please share some experience and good tips..

WIll the reflectors melt? where do I get them? Dare to buy china direct package?

I've got dual 55w on my lightning. I haven't experienced any melting or discoloration. They do get hot however. But I would not go to 35w. I would definitely recommend 55w to 35w.

I'm in the same boat,......

It's been the best mod I've done for my bike up to this date!!!

I am going to do this mod very soon, i am sick of commuting in the dark and not seeing/not being seen.
