I bought an 07 XB9 a few months ago. Only had 2500 miles. Purchased new in FL, sold to me from CA,now in TX. Changed fluids, added mods, rode the hell out of it :D Almost 3yrs & 8000 miles later, the bolt is dead. dead battery lol. I went to detail it the other day, accidently left key on for 3 hrs [confused] No problem, trickle over night, good to go. 2 weeks & $200 later; leave work for gas station, battery craps out. The buds swing buy,get a boost, battery craps out 2 blocks later [mad] No gauges, no idle, no nuthin :( (really wantin to kick that energizer bunny's ass right about now) My advice: Any battery that has sat on a showroom floor longer than a month, replace ASAP!!!

Did you end up getting it fixed?

That sucks, ****** luck... I'm kind of surprised that a trickle charger was able to even revive a completely flat 3 year old battery. Usually they need a pretty healthy kick in the ass to get them going again.

Damn the Luck. The battery was revived with a 4hr trickle. :( Still though. Only a couple of weeks of hard riding and it craps out. OEM should warranty there batteries for 2yrs & then SPECIFY get a new one.

I think the fact that the fan stays running after we shut our bikes off kills the battery.

The most common link to dead batteries is the voltage being used whilst doin 100+ down the highway. Buell puts out an awewome 2-wheeler, but u end up having to add $$$ to it,just to ride it like u want too.

BTW- my battery crapped out again, 10 miles down the road after a 4hr trickle...[mad]

Need to check your charging system. Download the '05 Service manual at the link @ top of page if you haven't already. Section 7-7, pages 7-24 on down describe the methods.

Yeah I agree with steven. A 3 year old bike's battery should still be good. And even if it is bad, if you have enough juice to get it started and then its dying 10 miles down the road something is wrong. Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt your battery only used on start up anyway? The bikes voltage while riding is maintained by the stator correct?

Yeah, I got another voltage reg ordered today. It seems though it was running great until I left the keys on for 2-3 hrs. What little i did charge it afterwards seemed to fix the problem though. [up]

[mad] WTF. The volt reg burned out at the plug. Anyone know if '03 reg retrofits '07.
