Hey there my name Josh and I am looking at 2 different Buell's right now. I have to decide between a 03 xb9r and a 99 Thunderbolt s3t and I was hoping for some help and input from you guys. I had a Harley and had to sell it so a Buell is next in my future. The 03 has 30k and the 99 has 25k, both are the same price $2400. Thanks in advance

I would go XB if its gonna be a rider. More comfortable than a tuber IMO. Also, I dont think the S3T's aren't the best looking Buells out there.

Don't 03's have a common belt issue?? I would think and 04+ could be easily found for nearly the same price.

I had an 03 and had zero problems. I'd say go with the xb. Good reliable bike when you take care of it. I'm not as familiar with the tubers though. And 2400 for a bike isn't as good of a deal as it sounds. I got mine with 12k miles for 2600. Granted I had to paint it myself but it was a nice bike. Honestly if I were you I would wait it out and look around more for another xb. The tuber on the other hand will be hard to find at any price. They are rare.

I've got an 03 with an 03 belt, the bike has 40k on it and is on it's second belt, it'll be fine!

Thanks for the input so far guys and around here in Michigan $2400 is a good price. Apparently everyone thinks their Buell is made of 14k gold and they want insane prices for them.

I hope you are knocking on wood!

wife takes care of that:D:p

the belt actually looks in great condition, I look it over weekly...bought the bike with 2500 miles on her and I'm the 3rd owner, 7 yrs ago this passed June.

I'd go with the XB also. Where are you in Michigan? I'm in Kalamazoo so which ever you get we should get together for a ride

Josh, if you're looking for a "sport bike" the XB is the way to go. If you're looking for more of a "Sport Touring" bike, that's where the S3T fits in. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with either bike. The prices are great compared to where I live.

That's a pretty good price on the XB. I have an 03 with 25k and I sure as hell wouldn't sell it that cheap :)
