Delta One Crashes :(

GOOD NEWS!!

bike is NOT totaled and they just cut me a check on the spot to get new gear and parts, even enough to cover labor!

and here is something for all you guys to tell your wives/girlfriends/significant others
while the adjuster was writing everything down he told that "guys like you that mod your bike real heavy like that normally come out on top"

so there you have it, go mod crazy in case you crash.

and buy a great helmet (the very best you can afford), I was given full replacement cost for my shark helmet. there is no reason not to wear a good lid if you are cut a check to replace it after a crash.

so I was updating my recovery thread and realized I never got around to posting pictures of the bike up here

a mate also got wiped out bike a lady ona dual lane roundabout. took him out and then promptly fled! a lot more damage that that on your bike though, unfortunately.

best of luck. me i only have to attend to teh damage to my apartment from a fire last sunday (while i was out riding). seems like there is a few of us that santa aint to happy with.

thanks twoguns, the wreck was actually Aug 31st
I am feeling much better now but some things still aren't right, I see a specialist on the 28th to get my shoulder looked at.

Betty (my bike) is doing very nicely but still handles a bit awkward, since in winter here Ill be replacing the wheel bearings (only a season old grrr) swing-arm pivot steering head bearings (only 1/2 season on them because RT did them for me when he swapped suspension grrr) and a fork tear down to make sure everything is still in order
other than that the rest is done and she is back on the road.

sorry about your mate, how is he?

sorry to hear about your fire too, that really stinks. I hope insurance squares you away pronto.

I said it once and I'll say it again: Pay for good gear now and pay less with skin and flesh later! Glad your ok.

For a crash that went very well, even your wallet saved your butt. You just gave me a list of everything I need to get. Glad yor OK and I'm betting the insurance is going to come thru from the other driver.-- You really maintained a great attitude thru all this , best of luck.

Just in case you want to know what exactly mine was

Knox cross elbow - size long (I'll sell you my rashed stuff cheap lol)
Knox cross max knee and shin guards one size fits all (same deal get it cheap it doesn't even look that beat up lol)
Shift boots (sorry I forgot the name but can look it up for you if you like)
Icon field armor vest (gave it to a T-shirt squid friend of mine, he actually wears it now too)
Shark RSR2 carbon helmet
Icon sub sacrifice gloves (don't trust these in a high speed wreck, I am still trying to find a proper fitting leather glove, I'm going to try the Knox gloves next, somehow I am hard to fit in gloves)

Glad to see everything is well.

Mine gave 6 months off work. Different insurances and company challenges made it interesting and profitable. (Insurance: the lottery you don't want to win.)

Have a doctor confirm the neck bone injury to your insurance asap. You'll want to monitor the healing of that, seriously.

Double check the wheel rims. That was missed on mine. There's a small dent my tire guy noticed many months later.

I like the Cortech Injector gloves at newenough.com. Good price and good coverage, although I was wearing Teknik in both my crashes. One is my summer glove, the other my fall gloves (haha, unintended joke).

so further news, got my MRI results back, I have a herniated disk somewhere around C6.
it turns out my neck is way too straight (it should have a curve to it) and it may have been a contributor to the damage done, its also one of the reasons I find it so hard to get into a full tuck.
