A buddy of mine has a Monster 796. He loves it. Not sure if the streetfighter type bike is what you're looking for, but you kinda can't go wrong with a Monster. Very smooth revving and shifting bike. Maintenance interval is what it is, but the bike is silky smooth to ride and has good grunt. I'd get the 1100, but that's just me.

The Monster is the very first bike I can recall seeing and thinking to myself, "man that looks awesome". It was the first bike that really made an impression on me.
The valve adjustments and such don't scare me (I'm one of the freaks of nature that actually enjoys that kind of work) but finding one can be a tall order and there is still a price premium (as-in 2x the cost of a comperable buell) I'm not willing to pay. I have other projects that are being neglected from lack of funds so spending that much more on a bike just doesn't make sense to me right now.

The more I think about it the more I'm sure I'm either going to keep my bike or possibly look for an 1125. There's an 08 on CL right now for $5200 w/ low mi. I'm drooling over.:D

Wipe your chin and get movin'! That's the ticket right there. $5200 is a nice price too.

Have u seen the 1125 xbr, just 1125 r with a fireboat front, but o man does it look sick! I personally can't stand to look at a 1125 r but with the bolt front on it, I dream about it!

The Monster S4r makes me nut just thinking about it; it's what I've always truly wanted to own... well only if I don't think too hard on it. Truthfully, I don't want to own a Duc, for the very reasons others have pointed-out: expensive to buy, maintain, and insure and damn uncomfortable. It will always be a bike over which I will drool, but never want to own.

Also, whoever thought a dry clutch was a good idea on a streetbike (no the S4r is NOT a race bike) should be shot...
