DMV Buellers meet up and rides

Hi Guys,

New DMV bueller here in Centreville VA.  I bought Flaya564's 03 XB9s and I'm LOVING it with one exception... the Jardine.  It's too loud for me, and I was hoping someone local had a stock can and some cash to offer to trade.  Figure I'd offer it up local first as it should be easier, save everyone shipping and a good deal for everyone

Thanks
Bob

Congrats! I have both a Jardine and the stock XB12 exhaust. It's a bit different from the XB9 (interactive muffler). Just FYI, I took the Jardine off because it was initially too loud, but found the sound of the stock exhaust detestable. For a while, I ran the stock exhaust with the interactive exhaust permanently opened, but the sound was still a bit too muffled. I finally put the Jardine back on the bike, and after re-packing the sound was a little quieter. I also purchased one of these:

Thanks! I already have one of the quiet cores installed and it's still miserable. The tone isn't the problem it's more that it is causing my ears to ring, even through earplugs, one wasn't seated correctly I think. It may need a repack, or a different material for packing, but either way, I'd rather just go back to stock and never have to repack again.

As for the sound being detestable, I heard the sound clip on the comparison website and didn't think it was too bad. By detestable do you mean too quiet? I don't really believe that the modern driver (talking on a cell phone, or checking email, or texting ) will be more alert if my exhaust is loud, so I want as quiet as possible for my own ears' sake.

Thanks
Bob

XB9 on stock exhaust may sound slightly better than a stock XB12. The interactive exhaust valve on the 12 gives the bike a weedwhacker sound when coasting on.

OK so I got a stock muffler but it didn't come with the front and rear mounting brackets and it only came with one strap. Anyone local have those left over after an upgrade? I can only find the front on ebay and it's up for something like $40 shipped.

I may just go to home depot and get some aluminum strapping and work with what I have.

Hey Bob,

I'm about 20 miles south of you between Gainesville and Warrenton. There is some nice riding out in that area. Feel free to give me a shout if you are up for a ride.

I might be up for a ride. Life is very hectic for me right now. Work, travel for work, a 9 month old girl, and a new dog really gobble up my time. I'll keep an eye out here and if I can make it out I'll chime in :)

Hey Bob,

I understand. I have a 9 year old and a 14 year old and my wife works weekends.

I need to do two things here... check for an intake leak (anyone have a blow-torch??) and adjust my static timing. I've just been too lazy (and busy) to get down to Jesse's.
