Hi guys,

Buell didnt sell the XB12scg in Australia, so i was wondering if the smaller (better looking) scg rear hugger and upper chain guard would fit my XB12ss? Even if it requires slight modification, im still keen on the idea, so if anyone knows if its possible, id appreciate any information.

Also, does anyone know if you can still buy the Buell Traction grips?

Thanks for any help,

Shaun.

you can check ebay but they are expensive. are you talking about the side rails that hold the seat? and the chin fairing?

No, im talking about the genuine Buell 'Traction' handlebar grips. Theyre the best grips ive used, and im looking for some more.
You could also get the 'Traction' foot pegs that were a higher quality billet peg covered with rubber.

Naw Bossanova I have a tire hugger off my R and It is on an SS swing arm
How did you get that to work as the SS and R are mounted differently ? Pics please.

What year is your SS?

I put a rear hugger off of an R onto my 2010 SS and it required some minimal cutting in order to fit.

(the R's and SCG's have the same rear hugger if i remember correctly)

Will it fit? I guess if you cut down into hugger part so it fits around the shock perch. Anything fits when you beat to fit, paint to match!!

^^ SS Swingarm. Scg hugger.

Ok, so i can make it fit, but ive heard that the hugger sticks up at an awkward angle and looks weird. Is this true, or does it look like its supposed to be there?

Shaun if you are asking me, I don't remember what year that swingarm is (think it is a 07) but 06 and up "SS" swing arms are the same except for color I believe.

You can see in the pic oh9bolt posted that there is a gap created because the regular "S" hugger is designed to "hug" the tire on a shorter swingarm. I think it just appears to stick up but if you visualized rolling the tire forward approx. 2” it would contour to it as designed. Does it look weird? IDK I haven’t seen one in person.

Sorry for the thread jack...
Jake-
What is the measurement from bolt hole to bolt hole (shock perch lug to bottom of shock) and did you retain the stock ride height?

Boss!!! The questions?! hah I'm kidding man. I will get the measurements for you but it wont be until Thursday at the earliest. Back to Hell tomorrow...

As far as the stock ride height, It seems to be just the tiniest bit higher. But other than that it is great 500 miles down and haven't had a single problem (yet)

(I like your art work)
