I will look for a trade for an XB9.
I think a 9 is a good bike to start on, the power of it and a 12 is not as abrupt as the 1125. Everyone is different but maturity and respect and fear of death make a big difference in how one tackles learning to ride.

i had a gsxr600 for a month before i had my cr, i think the cr is much easier to ride as it feels lighter due to mass centralization,
Really? I think a gixx 600 is a great bike for weight and size, 1125 is taller and heavier and doesn't turn as easy.

Oh and one thing I tell every rider is if you have friends who want you to ride with them, never, ever try to keep up with them if they are way more experienced than you. Go at your pace, take your time and your own lines. A few have crashed trying to follow me, and when I was new I almost crashed trying to follow a real good rider. Back the pace down, arrive alive.

for 3000 u have to buy that bike even if you dont ride it. thats really cheap. buy it and if you really worried about it get a $500 beater to learn on

IIRC in France all bikes are limited to 100 bhp - it may be worth asking EBR if they can provide an ECM with a french spec map ...

put a plastic bag over the air filter. poke some holes in it if it doesnt run and add more as required.

Dang, this post still going huh? Well I got a little confidence going into my final MSF class tomorrow morning. My first time actually riding was today. It was lots of fun. I got home and got my bike started and took it for a little cruise around the complex I live at. Then I crashed...JK, I did practice a little, and felt kind of proud that I finally got on the horse and rode it. All this talk about down tuning can be put to rest, it was the fear that was asking the question. Peace guys!

Regardless of experience, it takes a mental meditation before unleashing the clutch on every ride...
You have more horsepower (and torque on Buell's) than God intended a human to have. Honor it, respect it always and you will be ok.
Newbies (which we were all one at some point) need to pray your prayer like Hail Mary's.
MSF is good, but it's somewhere at the Kindergarten level. If you were on a 125cc it would be about right.
Be very careful, paranoid of all hard objects (which is everything in the world) and enjoy!
