Hi all Im new to the Buells. Having some issues with the battery on my 2007 12r. Battery went flat while getting lights working at mechanics. Recharged it, checked system was charging. It was at 14.2v. Rode it couple of times & it started backfiring under accelleration. Checked oil level was overfilled by mechanics, so drained excess & took for another run. Kept popping/backfiring under accelleration after about 10klm, then backfired liked crazy & konked out. Then tried to start & battery was flat. Put new battery in, ran much better with no backfiring & had more & smoother power. Went for ride next day got about 5klm & engine light came on. Stopped & turned off & went to restart & had another flat battery. Got a jump start & rode it home, engine light came back on after about 2klm & stayed on till got home. Im assuming something is draining the battery when riding as I only strted it 4 times since putting new battery in so that shouldnt be enough to flatten it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Sounds like you need to test the charging system. These bikes tend to eat regulators. Also take a look at the 77 connector behind the pulley cover on the right side.

I'd link to some previous discussion but I'm on my cell.
