Hey gang, great forum, been lingering on the fringes for a bit, learning a ton. Keep up the great content. Got my '07 STT this summer, she's been a blast. The question: I have the Drummer exhaust, and yesterday I saw a Buell putting along with a nasty sounding louder exhaust. Made me realize I need some more "bite" from my exhaust. How can I accomplish that? Can that muffler be tweaked somehow, or do I need a different pipe altogether?
cheers

p.s. I read the DIY about the exhaust valve, so planned to rig my cable to prop the valve open, only to find out it was alread done by prior owner!

You probably saw someone with a Hawk Exhaust. They don't come much meaner than that[up]

10-4 guys, thanks for the tips. Read much about Randy with the various postings on this site, and I already like him and have plenty of respect for him. I'll be trying to track down a stock pipe and get her to Randy. Also gotta bone up and learn what's needed for the ole ecmspy software and cable so I can tweak as needed...thanks.

If you want louder than Drummer get a D&D. Hawk and Drummer are about the same with Drummer being slightly more bass sounding.

If you can find a Micron setup, they're pretty loud. I find mine loud, anyway. And supposedly they're one of the better performing systems out there. (properly tuned, of course)

ECM spy is pretty straightforward...download the software and build yourself a cable. Or buy one...they're pretty inexpensive. Plenty of guides out there that make it really easy to use on your Buell.

If you have the drummer already get ahold of Kevin at KDFAB and tell him you want it louder. I did that with my drummer and there is a big difference when you put it up next to my wifes bike with the original drummer on it. It'll be cheaper than buying another setup and plus he will recoat it for you to make it look new again :)

I've got a Drummer SS and it's plenty loud for me. Do the Drummer and Drummer SS sound the same?

I do like the Drummer SS. Deep thumping note. But I couldn't bring myself to spend $675 on an exhaust. But I'll spend $5K on additional equipment to build up a brand new $30K Jeep. :p

I also have a Drummer SS and it is IMO the best sounding XB pipe I have heard. It is a deep sounding pipe with a nice pulse. The regular Drummer is slightly quieter but also has a nice deep pulse. Both have a nice torq curve and neither require a race ECM although it cant hurt. Oh and Kevin is about as helpful as it comes. (not that others aren't) He answered every question and even gave me his cell in case i had questions during the install. Oh and did I mention that I bought the pipe used from a badwebber. So he didn't make a penny off of me. Now that is customer service!

yeah i have the D&D on my '10 xb9sx and its LOUD!! i mean i almost want to put in ear plugs when im on the highway.
you should hear me rompin' the throttle in a parking garage!!!
yeah mine was $580 and thats too much money to be throwing around, when you can just take it to a shop and have'em mod it for under $100.

Thanks for the input everyone - and that's a great tip to just contact KDFAB and ask em to modify it for a bit more noise, sounds a lot better than 500 or so to nab a D&D...thanks again.
