It's all good frito! Mostly, we have some fun here! You're question wasn't really dumb! Just some of the replies were out there! You SHOULD be able to sort thru the sarcasm and disregard the stupidity!!
Just ride the thing as described by snrusnak and melvster and you'll be fine! Don't lug it or HOLD it at or near the redline and it will be fine. :)

as usual, well said sean. "loves to be run hard" filed in same category as "ride it like you stoled it." that usually means ride it to local repair shop for oil leaks, big end rod bearing knock and leaking rocker box gaskets.
Thank you John. As always I laughed out loud on your comment. :D

Well there is a difference between using it and ABusing it. I ride mine and rev it high a lot on spirited rides, but I take care of it, nothing that's going to be damaging. Some of you guys sound like you beat the **** out of your bikes. You don't need to tear it up to have fun, is the point.

If you ever get the chance, ride an 1125. Mine is fine anywhere above 2200 rpm, all the way to 11k rpm. Power really starts being made after 5k or so, still have 5500-6000 rpm left to play with.

Low rpm. Yeah, 35 mph, 6th gear, 2200 rpm. Rolls right out of it every time.

High rpm. Nuff sed.

when i'm cruising in town with a speed limit of 35, i usually stay in 3rd gear, which is right around 2600rpms i think.

rides a little bit like a bag of ****, but i don't feel comfortable cruising at 3500-4000rpms.

remember, my bike has only seen redline once in the 3 months i've owned it...
