So my wife said lets go! I asked and she would not tell me where we were going. We pulled into Sears and she said lets go to the tools then she said pick out which toolbox you want! That was awesome. So I went with the 40" Stainless Craftsman. Finally got it all organized. My wife calls me anal retentive because of how I organize my drawers. Anyway here are a few pics.

Welcome to the addiction my friend! Buying tools is an addiction. Your box is WAAAY more organized than mine lol

The bad thing is that its already full. I still have some tools that wont fit in it!

Suggestion - get the plastic socket rails that sit vertical. put them in one of the deep drawers. I can post a pic if you want but it saves a ton of space.

Under a grand for a 40" is a GREAT DEAL! Congrats on the purchase! I operate out of 3 of the 30" units lol and only have one stainless upper. I just buy as i expand

Zeroflat- I know exactly what your talking about. I might have to get some of those!

now try shadowing all your tools in every drawer, maybe then she may call you anal:D my wife does, but then again she doesn't work in aviation or been in the military either

Seems like the most organized boxes usually belong to the aviation guys - I've seen some contractors have absolutely immaculate boxes. Then again, they have to have daily tool box inspections accounting for each and every tool.

Nice X-mas present by the way. I'm so glad I got my little craftsmen set which is now starting to get too small.

Shadowing is the best thing I've done. You always know if a tool is missing, and it's always in the right spot. We use this place for our boxes at work:
Doesnt that take up a shit ton of space in your box if all the tools are so spread out?

Congrats and +1 on the vertical socket rails. I bought mine years ago from Snap-On and even though they were spendy, they have been the best tool organizer to date for me. I just bought some at Lowes for Christmas gifts and they were on sale for $9.99 for a set of three; 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2! That's less than half of what I paid for 1 rail from Snap-On.

Gotta love those early Christmas gifts from the Wife, mine just gave me mine early too, a 60" LED Smart TV for in the shop!

nope, actually creates more space if done right...keeping the tools together such as sockets and ratchets in one drawer, screwdrivers in another, etc..., etc...

the key is the tool box itself...has to have 1" and 2" drawers, the 3" used for the sockets, larger capacity drawers on the bottom, a side box also helps and used for your personal crap, and that depends on what box you have to begin with...you can buy the foam that comes with 2 pieces of foam and tracing sheets with adhesive backing from sears, it comes with a small folding knife for $20...works great

That's a sweet box! My parents got me a nice kobalt box towards the end of high school and it's one of the best tools I have by far...

Thrstrmech hit the nail on the head. The key is shallow drawers. Makes drawer categories easier too. Screwdrivers, wrenches, piers, drivers, measuring/precision tools, body tools, and misc automotive.
