I am new to the forum so please forgive me if this information is covered. I searched for info on where to get the software, drivers, cable, etc. and I found old posts that say its free, and new posts where people are buying it, is there still somewhere I can get this free? Also, where can I get the cable/parts to make the cable? I somewhat technology friendly but don't understand alot of the lingo out there... Thanks in advance. By the way, I am having problems with my bike running, would the ecm spy give diagnostic information if the engine light were on(I assume this is like the check engine light in a car)??

I dont know much about Tunepro, I have not gotten into it yet but it seems to be the better way to go. More control and better tunning. If I were starting out tunning I would go that rout.

It would be very useful to know what year your bike it to make a recommendation for software but to answer your questions:

ECMspy is free...if you pay money for it you got ripped
ECMspy for mono is not free....its most likely the program you see people paying for
Using ecmspy it will tell you the reason that your engine light is on and will let you run diagnostics on most of the electrical system

Like gator said TunerPro is a much more powerful program. If you are somewhat computer savvy you will be able to navigate around just fine. ECMspy is much more user friendly...however I find myself using TP more often than ecmspy. If you want a crash course check out theoctopus thread dealing with tunerpro sessions. He is going to be doing a webinar soon to help out with tuning issues using TP.

You need to study the manual, go to ECMSpy.com and you can still get it there. Also do an "ECMSpy" search here and on Buelletinboard.com and read up on the numerous threads.

You can get an ECMSpy cable off of Ebay or a more trustworthy source like Xoptiinside.com.
