Environment:
ECMSpy 1.12.27
XOpti Cable 3ft
Buell 2003 XB9S
Driver: Prolific PL2303 (v2.1.35.211)

Problem:
I have tried every thing imaginable to connect to the bike, but no go. Followed all the forum posts, youtube videos, instructions. Nothing. Here are the steps tried:
1) Start ECMSpy
2) Connect Cable to Bike
3) Connect Cable to computer
4) Turn bike key to on
5) Turn kill switch to on
6) Click Communications Options
7) Click "AutoDetect"
**Failed to get COM Port

COM Port (as verified through Device Manager is COM7), which also appears in the COM drop-down on Communications Options.

I need help folks, no idea where to go from here. I've fiddled with this for 5 hrs already today.

Ok folks. In the 6th hour I've emerged - VICTORIOUS! Here's what I think did it:

* Switched to Windows XP (x86)
* Tested the cable to verify functionality.
* Default COM Port was set to 13 (probably too high for ECMSpy) - Set the "Prolific VCP" to the smallest COM possible. I switched from COM13 to COM2.

I've read a lot of suggestions throughout these forums and all have been great. However, the one that helped me most was the Buell Tuning Guide, hosted by Buellmods.com.
Buellmods.com

Hope that helps some other struggling bueller-noob.

I have the XOpti cable and it didn't work right for me with ecmspy. Worked great after some fiddling with tunerpro rt. Tunerpro seems to have a lot more useful functions/tools anyway.

I cant find any kind of com port in "device manager to change this and its driving me nutts . where did u find the com port?
