I bought my 2005 XB12R last year and the previous owner had installed a vibe-rider in the passenger seat. Without getting into the benefits of this particular accessory, I've had an issue with it that I've been thinking about for the past year...

The buzzer is hardwired to the control module, so there is a wire running from the passenger seat down through the tail to the throttle and the module itself. This means that I can't take the passenger seat off completely and there is only a limited range when I unlock it. I want the ability to take it off completely; thought bullet connectors at first, but I think I can do better than that.

My old camaro has a hatch-pull-down motor. When the hatch closes, contact is made between contacts on the hatch and contacts at the top of the hatch motor in the catch. When those contacts touch, the motor activates and completes its cycle down into locked position. I've googled but haven't found another application of this. It must be out there! I want to terminate the buzzer in the seat with contacts like the ones on the hatch. When I slide the seat into locked position, I want those contacts to touch the contacts hard-wired to the bike (similar to those at the top of the hatch motor) so that the circuit is complete.

This seems like an overly complicated description, but I'm trying to make it clear. Any ideas?

Maybe...oddly enough "doorjamb connector" was a term that never crossed my mind. Funny how that seems so simple...

I'd figure that should be weatherproof and small enough for my needs...

Yup, the Door Jamb connectors/contacts is the first thing that came to my mind as well. You can check eBay too.

The door jam connectors mentioned work real well for applications like you are wanting. I have used them in the past on several different types of prijects. You should only need either the two post connector. One positive and one ground. keep us updated on the outcome if you go this route.
