I have a 2005 Buell XB12Scg with 4300 miles on it. My bike has been acting alittle funny lately and I took it into the dealership and they just reset the TPS and adjusted the exhaust valve and said it was good to go. The bike is still not running right. My headlight takes about 30 seconds to turn on after starting the bike up, especially if it has not been ran in a couple of days. Also, when riding with the turn signal on, I can hear the fuel pump get louder then quieter the louder then queiter, in unison with the turn signal. Battery terminals are tight as can be. Do you guys think I need a new battery, or could this be the stator starting to go? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Also, I noticed the last time I rode my cooling fan did not turn on when i turned off the key. The fan is supposed to come on anytime the bike is shut off correct?

I'm not an electrical expert, but a lot of times it can be a ground issue. You should clean all you ground cable connections. They are the braided ones.

No, there is a temperature requirement for the fan to cut on, just means your engine didn't get insane hot.

no, depends on how hot your engine is...
from what you're saying, it's a power issue...i would place the battery on a tender.

Okay, I got my battery tested today and its at 12.79 Volts. So its not my battery. I checked all fuses and looked for any loose wires. I cant find a thing. I am stuck.

There is another thread where someone had similar probs and alot of feedback on testing stator and electrical currents, I would check that thread and try some of that advice. Im no tech and that sounds pretty odd, I would definetly test the stator.

may i ask how the battery got tested?
since you're not the 1st on here that got told the battery is ok, when it was not.

Yea, I actually thought about taking it to two places while I had it out. I might still take it to another place. I took it to auto zone and they put it on there battery testing unit. Thats as much as I know.

i had my battery tested 3 times and was told it was good everytime even the last time when it melted in the tester... i had a combo of eletrical problems one of them included the engine/lights cuting out allmost like a surge it was my voltage regulator. all of this with a lot of feedback is in a previous post

oxygen151, if you have a volt meter, get it on the battery and start your bike.

let me know what your meter shows.

same here, my bike was backfiring, popping, dying while riding down the road, making weird fuel pump noises, engine light on & off, etc....
new battery fix it all. :)
EVERYTHING on these takes power. the way i knew it was the battery wasnt from testing the bad one, i have friends with bikes & buells take the same battery as some Jap bikes, so i just tried their battery & it was good again, so i knew.

Lefox i put my meter on the battery with the bike running and it showed 14.43. It stayed constant. That seems pretty normal right?

yeah thats normal when my voltage regulator was bad it was only at 10 replacing the battry did help me for a while but not long because my bike was not charging the battery but in your case it sounds like it is. i would say you have a dead cell in the battery or a grounding issue

i would look at the light wires in front...

something is drawing power from the rest of your bike and since you already specified a problem with the headlight, i would start there.
