Engine light any ideas?

Yesterday I started the bike let it warm up for about five min. went to take off and the engine light popped on for a few seconds. Today rode bike for about an hour stopped at a store put bike in neutral light popped on again for a few seconds. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks guys.

most likely letting you know it's stored a code check with ecmspy if you have it or take it to the dealer

You can also check them by using a jumper wire: Engine Diagnosis w/o ECMSpy

Also, just verify that it is the CE light and not the oil light. Seen where people were low on oil and low oil light would come on and mistaken for check engine light. Both are red and right next to each other so it isn't hard.

thats what i was thinkin just wonderin if anyone had an idea before i took it in. I thought that to Steve since I changed the oil last week by the second time it did it I made sure it was the CE light (the top one). Thanks again guys.

The check engine is yellow and oil is red on my 08 Xb12Ss. My check engine used to come on quite frequently and it took me a while to discover the problem. Everytime after the wife went with me for a ride the weight of use both pushed down on the battery cables causing the positive to wiggle a little loose. The next day by myself the light would flicker on and by the third the bike was ready to die. I re-tightened the terminal and that would work until the next ride with the wife. I later changed the spiget washer to a lock washer and haven't had the problem since.
