does anyone have pics or videos on step by step engine removal? need to drop my engine to do top end seals/gasket replacement, rear cylinder base gasket is a leaker:(

If you give me a couple of days I can put something together for you.

Do you have a service manual, if not download one and use that. Pretty good pics in there from what i remember. After you do it once its not so hard and i just use the torque specs now.

yeap, got the manual...have converted all the torque specs in the manual from ft. lbs. to in.lbs., I'll take a look at it, thanks

ali...that would be awesome, thanks

wish you said something last week.....i keep meaning do a write up. but it only takes me about 45 mins when im in the zone.
im so bad now i leave the motor on bricks and the kickstand.

dang, 45 minutes...that's pretty quick, looked through Dave's DIY's to see if there was one done, but no joy, so that led to this thread...thanks for the pics though, helps to visualize what she'll look like

[up], cool thanks...waiting for the new clutch cable and plugs, might tackle it over this weekend or next

squidbuellie...in following the manual after removing the rear tie bar from the frame only, next step states to loosen the rear isolater bolt, not remove it...do the opposite to get the frame off at that point? which would leave the bike in the same state as your pic?

IIRC - it's easier to remove the frame than rotate the engine... can anyone confirm? Just wonderin' cause my steed is waiting for a rocker box gasket change (has been for a minute). Don't mean to jack the thread. Any advice much appreciated.

It's been awhile since I have read the manual. But I do know it has you do a lot of unesasary steps.
But to give you a quick idea I remove the one next to the starter, top, bottom behind rearsets, rear caliper, shock then front mount.
You need to make sure you have the jack under the muffler before you remove the rear shock

Yes......

You are going to hate me, but I didn't take any photos while I took the motor out :(

no worries, the weekend was a bust, didn't get a chance to do it, this past Wednesday did the oil change and replaced the clutch cable, set for Tuesday and Wednesday next week to do it since I have both days off...

welcome any locals that wanna come over and lend a hand or just hang out if you can

so it has begun, started out this morning about 10, got the frame removed in 2 hours taking my time while going through the manual, got the rear cylinder off, doing one at a time...what are you guys using to remove the base gasket, been using gasket remover and that **** isn't working, working carefully with a razor blade and emery cloth as some of the gasket is coming off in tiny pieces. any tips on removing it other than what I'm already doing?

got the gasket off with rubber wheel on my angle grinder, cylinder heads are back on except for the rocker cover...the top end kit came with the upgraded washers that have the built in o-ring, problem now is that the original screws that holds the cover has washers that do not come off without ruining the threads to install the new ones, wtf over? so off to dealer in the morning to see if they have the original gasket seals for the screws or Ace to find some. front cylinder coming off in the morning also, with luck I'll have her back together before heading off to work, fingers crossed:p

got the engine completed and mounted back into the frame yesterday, did final electrical connections and zip tied 'em, clutch and throttle reconnected. new plugs and wires done as well...checked and double checked everything, then she fired right up:D
