I have XB12Ss 2006, driven about 8100 km. My problem is that engine stops while riding. It does it randomly and when I toggle ignition and press start it works just fine. ECM Spy dont't show any error codes.

I have K&N/TI-Force exhaust. No hiccups or anything else, motor just stops running suddenly.

What should I check first?

ground/earth connections, positive connections, fuel pump, crank sensor, coil, ecm connections.ecm, coil and crank sensor failure will show a code fuel pump wont most of the time

Ground connections were clean and tight. I also checked fuses and relays, all looked good.

What should I check next? Fuel pump seems to be OK, hard to say..

There's a wire under the seat that, on some Buells, gets worn and grounds out the bike. You only notice it when you're riding because the rider weight, and/or a bump, causes it to ground. When there's no weight, everything works just fine.

BAS???

Well, yeah, my BAS has stopped my bike twice.

The first time was when I went over the bars and the bike FELL over.

The second time was when I slid out at 100mph and the bike FELL over.

Could be but when you see hoof-prints, look for horses before you look for zebras and unicorns.

How's the spring on your sidestand? I can't imagine a 2006 would be in that bad of shape, but I've had older bikes who's sidestand had enough play in it that I could hit a bump and the bike would cut out because it thought the sidestand was down. I just wrapped a ziptie around that part of the sidestand and it worked fine.

Thanks for advices, I'll check BAS and sidestand spring too. Yesterday I drove about 60 km (37 miles) and had no problems. I also thought that would the cause be "stop switch" in right handle? [confused]

Does 06 have sensor in sidestand? I doubt..
But yeah, check the stop switch and BAS. Do you lose all the lights when the engine stops?

I checked stop switch and BAS connection. There's not a sidestand sensor in my bike.

Hard to say, what is causing engine stopping.

Johny, I'm not sure about lights, but oil light was on last time.

Oil light on is normal when ignition is on and bike is not running.

Did you lift the seat and check the wires that run over the frame under the seat?

Check for any cracked wires in the loom under the triple trees, feel and inspect to determine if any may be holding on by a few strands...Could be the problem

I've got the hint on my bike the wiring harness might be it's weakness. My bike is in pieces right now and I'm seriously considering replacing the whole thing. Did somebody make a harness better than stock?

I have now made 3 trips and had no problems at all. Hopefully the problem is now gone. Thanks for advices! :D

Nothing special, I just cleaned connectors and battery wiring. Battery was disconnected for about half an hour, maybe that did the trick?
