Hey guys, I had that error code 14. Now basically does that mean for sure that its bad? Or can it be something else making it send that code? I don't know how to test it exactly to per say specs, but I threw my ohm meter on the end of the wire plug terminal and ran a copper wire to the outter housing of the sensor and stuck in water on the stove and slowly brought the temp up and I was able to watch the ohms decrease as the water got hotter. I had my ohm meter on 200k mode and at 210 degrees F it was reading 3.8 on the meter so on the 200k setting it was saying 3.8, not sure what that really is exactly. If anybody knows how to check these please let me know. Is this just for the fan or does it tell the ecm how much fuel to deliver as well from cold to hot?
thanks
craig if anybody has a link to where to buy the sensor for cheap let me know asap please.[confused]

American SportBike .com check out the Site .Yes the Temp Sensor controls the fan. The Engine will overheat if Ridden Without it. The Fan that is. Make sure to Recheck your work if needed, most likely if you have already Checked for codes and 14 came up using the ECMSPY- software or using your Data Port Plug and counting the blinks.
More on that check out Site- http://www.bc rider .com/ DDFI .html- this way you have more than one Referance to go by.
If you have already Removed the Temperature Sensor just replace it and check the Fan Run time after your Reinstallation of the new part.Might need to check the operation of the Fan also. The Fan has 2-speeds and will run on high if Bypassed for testing. Take your time and good luck. *Jimi

and if the sensor is indeed bad i believe it is yet another ford automotive part that's available at auto parts stores. the ford part # should be available here on the site.

The manual gives you resistances at certian temps. When mine went out, it seemd to have about the correct resistance for ambiant, Starting the bike caused a drop in resistance, but it didn't drop fast enough/correctly. I'd not pulled it at the time and checked it in boiling water. I bought mine from my local dealership. On that note, depending on your year model, you may end up having to splice wires to use the "updated" delphi(sp) plug. I hate them, and cut the wire on the sensor and used the old plug.

lunatic, it's a Buell specific part.

ASB or Ironmachine, the guys over on badweb were going to get a custom one done because they are hard to source but I believe it wound up being way too expensive and the idea was scrapped.

When mine was acting up it was because the wire wore through.

and any new temp sensor you buy will come with the new plug for you to change to.

I ordered one from my Buell Dealership and its like 48.00 and 10.00 shipping. The wire had a taped spot where it was wore through already, Its a pain in the butt to get to it on mine :(. But I guess thats just how it is though.

Wait.... The tps and fuel pump are ford right? Can you guys tell me what make and model for vehicle i would have to use to get the parts to fit my buell? I would like to have this info on hand. It would be very handy and helpful for my future fixs.
