I have a 2009 XB12r with a Drummer pipe and I was having a lot of popping and back firing. The bike would not take throttle at lights and was generally running poor. I just installed a race ECM from EricBuell racing.com. The bike could be running better! The combination of the Race Tuner ($250.00,) the K&N air filter and the Drummer work perfectly together, but you will need all three to have things work correctly.

I also had the first service done by Faultline Harley-Davidson in Fremont CA, were I work and The bike is off the hook now. Shane one of our top mechanics took great care in getting all the little noises out, changing all the fluids and he even tweaked the suspension for me.

Next comes the Upright bars!

nice! i have the exact same bike (year, color, make, model) i have a jardine gp-1,k&n race filter, EBR ECM, and breather reroute. your bike looks a lot better condition then mine though... i had a flat tires the other day and while tring to load my bike into my truck it sliped and the bike tip and the frame scraped against a bolt on my truck and now theres a gaah in my frame on the front left side... make me sick looking at it...

You will mess up such a beautifull bike with cruiser handle bars. Its a sport bike. Try scooting your ass forward when your stopped or going slow and when your going fast scoot your asss back. Also use your legs to hold you on the bike. Plus you must learn to arch your back like a pro racer and you will love the way your FireBolt is set up. Its perfect with the slip on bars. It is your bike though so if you want upright bars get them. you should wait till you learn how to ride and you will see they are really nice how they are. Good luck.

By the way I have the exact same bike same year but I got the white and blue. I thoufght about getting lifted handle bars, but I learned how to handle my bike better and now cant emagin it with liftrd upright bars. Im not saying you dont know how to ride im just saying you may need to learn more about how to handle your bike and manuver around it. You can ride a firebolt with out using just your arms to hold you up. You need to learn to use your legs and back and you can ride in the same position with your hands in the air. so its not about leaning on your arms. If thats your problem trust me there is hope that you can keep your slip ons and learn to posistion your body correctly. Try reading up on that. I love our bike.

Thanks for the feedback Leamyp and brightbuell. I do love the bike with the stock bars, and the more I look at this bike the more it wows me. I am 40 though and the last 200 mile ride really beat me up. I hope that I do not regret it, but when I ride, I lean up were the bars will be and I think it's going to be really good. I also rode a RC51 with these exact bars and I was really happy with it. I think a few people have mentioned that I will be giving up some of the handling but I don't think so. Will see I am going to give it a try and I will post the new pics when it's done. Thanks again for the comments---

Go for it, and yes please post pics. i have seen several dif threads here with diff risers and bars so maybe if you dig a little you can find them and see all the options other people used.

No doubt, I had the triple tree powder coated black, I think it looks good.
Now I am trying to decide if I want to do the job, or if I want to let the shop do it.

i have seen the firebolt with top mounted bars and it really disrupts the beauty in the lines of the bike.maybe a Lightning is what you prefer?
