Since my bikes' warrenty is expired now, I plan to do much of the work myself and am gathering the essential tools. Nothing chaps my *ss like having to stop working and run to buy a tool...What are some of the specialty tools that you guys have found essential to have, aside from the standard sockets, wrenches, etc?

T27 torx, sae wrench/socket set, 4/6 in' extensions, flat head screw driver, wd40, sae allen wrench set, adjustable pliers, adjustable wrench, filter wrench, voltage meter. I think most everything can be handled with that.

don't forget the Lock-Tite (red & blue) and zip ties, everyone loves zip ties!
:D

and if you have not already, download the service manuel from the top of the page above the Buellparts dot net banner
;)
have fun!

Ah HAH! lock-tite..had forgotten that! Made me think of anti-seize too. Those are "have to go get" things. I scored a 247 pc. craftsman tool set including torque wrench for 300 bucks the other day, so I am good on standard tools....It's these little things..added to list man, thanks!

what chaps my butt, is buying tools in a set that I never use. I usually buy them individually.

Be sure to check your Craftsman set for a T27 many of Craftsman sets don't have a T27. Also the large spark plug socket in the Craftsman set can be turned around backwards and used to remove the axle.

This is what I mean, this end of the socket can be inserted into the axle to remove it.

Ya know what? Buy lots of whatever you can afford. You can NEVER have too many tools. When your wife tells you different, remind her that she can never have too many "toys" ;) Wayne

A good set of stands are a must

swing arm and triple tree

I have a set from T-Rex

They make everything easier[up]

i bought the buell toolkit for around 90.00 has everything i have at home but in a bag, kinda handy for traveling

Thanks guys for the additional input. I have gotten most of what's been suggested and more! I figure i should get it while the money is there and my bike isnt..Great idea on the spark plug end! I dont have a garage proper, but an insulated 16X12 workshop with a loft that i am converting to bike shop on the fly...I installed an air conditioner and am considering some type of exhaust fan (bathroom perhaps?) system to hook the bike up to/near to take the fumes out--but havent found a good heat resistant flexible hose...ideas? My neighbor is elderly and ill, last thing i want to do is make her listen to my Jardine for long periods..so i need to be able to close the doors.

Thats what i was thinking....but then considered that they arent flexible very long and i dont want it to break. Considering now the dryer vent hose that is foil like, insulated perhaps. They make hoses for professional shops but they are so expensive. Thought maybe I was missing an option.
