Would someone mind explaining for the new XB12 owner (or directing me to a source for the information) a couple of items that I've seen discussed elsewhere in the threads.

1. Breather reroute mod. What is the issue addressed by this and what is to be gained? (I've read the excellent thread on how to do it, but I'm not sure why to do it or not.)

2. TPS reset. What is it and why?

Thanks in advance for your tollerance and for not kicking me off the forum for blatant ignorance.:)

1. The breather reroute is done to eliminate low rpm hickups caused by dirty air being recirculated into the airbox. That dirty air that comes out of the crank case is rerouted to exit under the bike, leaving the airbox with fresh air.

2. TPS (throttle position sensor) is done after certain mods are done(like tuning).

Thanks Dave!

1. I can see that the breather reroute is on my list. Anyone know what this would do to my warranty?

2. I feel like a total dope for not picking on throttle position sensor as TPS.

Man this bike is fun. :D

I've had mine in for routine service and warranty work and it was not a problem, but then again, I didn't point it out to them either. You will notice a difference with this mod, well worth the time and effort!

I agree. I got the service manual in and was going to do the TPS reset with the 1k mile service and it said something about connecting it to some sort of electronic device???

while we're on the subject, what's the best way to do a TPS reset?
For Pre-'08 bikes:

- ECMSpy (Free) or Dealer ($$)

Post '08 bikes:

- Have the Run/Stop button set to Run.

- Turn the ignition key to the On position but do not crank or start the engine.

- Open the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second.

- Close the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second.

- Repeat the throttle open/close procedure a total of three times in succession.

- Turn the ignition key to Off/On
