Hey guys and gals. Im looking to build a custom exhaust for my 03 xb9r. I want good deep loud sound with the best performance gains possible. Im running a stock one right now after blowing up a jardine. :( what i want to know if yall have pics or diagrams of the internals of the popular exhaust. Such as race exhaust, drummer, hawk, special ops, latus, vodoo, and any others really. just want to figure out something cool. but different probably. Possibly something modifying the stock exhaust. maybe puttin and x pipe inside...??? ideas, input, and interal pics wanted

baja ive used the search and looked at every one that had something to do with exhaust. the ive only seen two that really show the internals of the muffler. seen descriptions but not much. i know what the front exit vodoos look like inside and i think the hawks a basically hollow like the diy mod. im looking for more detailded stuff. not just asking before i looked like most. so if u please sarcasm isnt needed. seen the bomber front exit with headers too. i did some home work first now i looking for intelligent detailed answers on a very valid question. [mad]please dont tell me to look more. ;)so everyone else forget this lil comment pls. not really for yall

i made this pipe and can take it off giving a description on how to make it mounting brackets took more time than the exhaust to make.
Took the bike in for first service and after a test ride the mechanic was impressed with the extra power.

buellgog u did what i am looking at building. I got the idea from this pipe http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/78.html

What pipe are u running off it? I was thinking about going with a thrush or cherry bomb or somthing along those lines. But not sure on that yet.

How u like it? What kinds of power increase u get? I want more torque (cant ever have enough lol) and i more midrange. Not looking for top in power, dont really use it that much and when i do the stock is plenty.

hey bulldog. i like that exhaust. i mean front exits arnt my favorite but urs looks pretty innovative. id like to know more details like what u based it off, internals, etc..

Ok guys ill take it off this weekend and take pictures for you.The only problem was having to cut the standard headers to fit the two into one section.
All the parts were sourced from the web in the UK,
end can made from new parts ordered from P J engineering
unit 3, Meridian centre, Belvoir way, Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 0LQ tel 01507 480701
2" stainless tube, bends and perforated tube from OJZ engineering tel 01777 248844

A friend tig welded the sections for me i have sprung joint in the middle to take the vibration,

I copied the Free spirits front exit exhaust because they claimed more midrange backpressure and after fitting a straight through pipe rear exit then fitting this pipe there is a lot of difference in power pops like a gooden though on decel
The bike sounds loud but i think thats just because the sounds isnt exiting behind you ear plugs sorted that i am going to make a mark 2 version using oval stainless or carbon fibre instead of the trioval

good stuff bullgog. hey everyone still wanting to see diagrams on the internals of some of the popular mufflers. keep em coming guys!:D

yup ive found that one through my research. thought the design would work really well as it is very similar to the latus. good flow wit enough back preassure. that kinda thing. just wanting to really do my homework and research first. keep the ideas coming

not sure what the question marks are about there. just wanted to see what the internals of all the most popular exhaust look like. not too complicated

This what I did, it rocks. half the sound of gutted, twice as loud as stock, pulls hard after 3000RPM. No map change.

as far as packing goes what did u use around the pipes. and what are pipe sizes and bends. thanks for the input. just a few details

the ? marks were just to bring the thread back up. And to get buellgog attentions and see if i could get the details of his pipe. thats all :)

Tyler on mine there is no packing to worry about. I also drilled two 1/4 inch holes in the top pipe which is the exit pipe of the loop to vent it into the inner chamber. Pipe sizes were 2 inches for the bend and adapters were sizes that went from the sizes that were in the pipe as stubs to 2 inch, final exit pipe was 2 inches. The bend is a donut that will need to be cut in half for use and interior seam needs to be welded also. All of it fits inside the interior chamber. You can find it by searching for "Modded XB12 Exhaust" to get more pictures and details.
