I am wondering if someone has any suggestions on a new exhaust for the 1125r. I am leaning towards the HFM apex slip on. What I am looking for is that low tone V-twin rumble, not as concerned with how loud it is. Also with the HMF apex do you have to remap? And if so why? What would it do to the engine if you do not remap it?

My two cents, the freespirt or the EBR system is the only way to go. Expensive but well worth the money in the long run.

I am picking up my 1125r this week the dealer had a jardine n d&d they had dumped said the af ratio are great without remapping .also after running the jardine tuner they lost power

stay away from the free spirits. a guy on here had one and it turned colors and didn't fit and the company that makes the pipe didn't help him at all. from what i've heard the free spirits is nothing but bad news.[down][down][down]

free spirits exhaust also has 2 sets of packing to replace.Ouch that could cost 50$ or more every 5-6 k

If you want one of _the_ most powerful slip-on systems out there, try one of these.

Do your own research, the ASB shootout has a lot of good info. http://www.americansportbike.com/Exhaust_Shootout.html

Here's a pic of one of the last ones I shipped out. As far as power goes, anything I make will flat out blow away the D&D, jardine or FMF in the slip-on category. If 137+ hp and 82+ ft/lbs of torque doesn't get it for you, then you either need the EBR full system or a different bike altogether. No matter what system you end up buying, get the race ECM to match it, it's well worth the $250.

The exhaust decision is indeed a tough one. Surprising given the limited production of 1125s, but it is a good thing.

Dean does indeed make some gorgeous and great working exhausts. Barkers performs just as well, weighs less and is a bit cheaper, no doubt the best bang for your buck, just not my cup-o-tea. I like the Free Spirits quite a bit and I think they resolved the discoloration issues, but they are pricey, and since they didn't participate in the shootout, performance gains are unknown. I also like the looks of the FMF and Jardine slip-ons, but as Dean said, performance is not quite as good as his or the Barkers.

I really wanted a full system and if I couldn't get one Dean's was my next pick. I found a great deal at Motorcycle Superstore on an FMF full for 1224 shipped and I felt that was too good to pass up. Not much more than some of the slip-ons, but a race proven full system. Now we will see if it shows up... If and when it does, I will absolutely post up before and after dyno runs with an EBR ECM.

It should go without saying, stay away from the D&D unless you want stupid loud, can dragging in hard right turns, and the least performance out of a slip-on. Not to bash, but that pipe was the first one on the market and was obviously just thrown together without much thought or testing.

Theres a pic of my bike with the Drummer on in the 1125cr forum under "stator died after five minutes of being installed". The Drummer sounds great and is a good quality product..

if you dont care about how loud it is get the D&D it is definetly the sweetest sounding pipe ever. the others look like they should be on a jap bike and the D&D is the best looking for the price 2. If you want a pipe that will put a smile on your face everytime you start it D&D hands down. and to what freight dog has to say id like to see a picture of a D&D that has road rash from a hard right turn but it isnt the best performing pipe but who cares you arnt going to feel a huge difference from the best to the D&D

who cares you arnt going to feel a huge difference from the best to the D&D

Wanna bet?

Stock Time, 60MPH to 140MPH (Seconds) 7.646
D&D Time, 60MPH to 140MPH (Seconds) 7.114
RT-1 Time, 60MPH to 140MPH (Seconds) 6.856

You'll feel it.

3/10 of a second from 60 to 140 good luck feeling that your heart is going to be going crazy so i wouldnt even know it

it's a difference of .26 seconds, which could have simply been an early shift. show me where and who ran these bikes against each other and how many runs were done, and don't tell me it was another exhaust manufacturer doing the tests, their brand is always best lol. i only say this because i speak from example, but i have an fmf with pc setup. i know of two 1125's that i ride with all the time, both of which went the programmable ebr ecm way along with a keda on the red one and an hmf on the other. both were dyno tuned and both lost to me on the track last year consistently. had nothing to do with rider either, cause we switched bikes a couple times and my brother actually ran mine faster than i did once. every bike is different, which means every tune will be different on that bike as well. buy whatever exhaust you want based on what you want to spend. it's your setup and i'm sure you'll be adding to the bike as time goes on anyways so do it your way.
