Exhaust question

Yeah, I just sold my Dean Adams pipe because I want to hear the voices of my future grandchildren. Great pipe, great top end just mind blowing decibles. Even with ear plugs I was deaf for an hour after a long ride.

I'd have to say you weren't wearing them correctly then. Most foam ear plugs show a 30-33 db drop in sound, my exhaust usually hits 105-110 db at 5k rpm, 110+ above that. Even so, if worn properly, that nets you an average of 75-80 db noise as heard or measured. With ear plugs in, it's not as loud as stock without them if that makes sense. I've seen people put them in and think they're ok but they're just sitting in the outside edge of the ear and not doing a dang thing for noise reduction. I've been building ( and riding with) these exhaust systems since 2008 and my hearing is just fine. I may mess with my wife a lot saying "huh?" all the time, but she knows darn well I hear just fine.

Been a firearms instructor and a construction worker for years so I think I know how to use some ear plugs man. Worked around live proformance and just plain loud environments my whole adult life. I have issues with prolonged high noise levels.Did you think maybe the pipe is just to loud for me?

For reals though, your pipes are loud as falk...

Nah, the xb pipes are nowhere nearly as loud as the 1125 or 1190 systems I make. I ride with them all and have done so for years. Same here with firearms (not an instructor though, just a rabid shooter) and I get by with the standard 3m yellow foam ear plugs. No ringing, headaches, nausea or anything else, so yeah, it may just be you if you're competently inserting the ear plugs. I've done **** the wrong way for extended periods of time until I was told "hey man, you're doing it wrong" and was shown how to do it right. Then again, maybe I'm doing the exhaust thing wrong?

Do you have any more info on the RT-XB-2? I have not been able to find any reviews. Any pictures of it mounted?

Side shot, I have more if needed. Average gain for a magnaflow is usually about 10% or so over stock with some tuning. More can be had if you get aggressive with it or know what you're doing. I've seen a few make up close to 100 hp at the wheel but it's rare.
