Here's my problem,
I have an 05 xb9sx that has the see thru orange tank and flyscreen. I need to replace both and I'm being told it was only available for 06 and newer. I bought it in feb. and when I bought the bike it had just over 2000 miles on it. It sat for four plus years. So my ?s are this. Did that bike come with that color from the factory. If it did, is it a limited edition?
Any help would be appreciated. It also has the amber wheels.

It didn't come stock in that color, only hero blue or black. I'm not sure if they have them in stock but you can buy them from www.buellparts.net

in 2005 the valencia orange bodywork was not stock on the xb9sx, the stock color was hero blue translucent. the translucent orange color came out later, so your bodywork has prob. been replaced. it is not a limited edition color. the amber wheels are not stock either, the 2005 xb9sx came with black wheels.

People switch the bodywork all the time. My 2003 came as all yellow, then it was black, then I got the transparent red bodywork for it. Currently it's back to black with the newer decals on it. The previous owner probably just wanted the orange. Look around buellparts.net, maybe you'll find a color you like even more than the orange.

There may be someone in here that has a set. There's a few different Shades of orange. I'm going to assume you're referring to Valencia Orange, being you said its transparent.

I think the airbox covers ("tank") should be interchangeable across years (and will fit both the firebolt and the lightening). The windscreen is interchangeable should be across years (and only fits the lightning). There are some dealers that can still get the part for you. It might take a minute.

According to the parts catalog, the part numbers are...

Valencia Orange M3224.4A8AMCH(airbox cover w/o "X" gaurd and decals.)
Valencia Orange M2600.1ADMCH (wind screen)

The X Guard is a plastic X that came on some airbox covers that protected it from scratches. If you're interested in looking at the parts catalog. You should register at Buellmods.com-- its in the download section. (there used to be a link at the top of this site)

Are you saying you have some sunset orange rims ? The ones in your pic are translucent amber.

Didn't the city x come with frame pucks? Also I found that in 05 they sent 300 to europe in orange with black wheels, numbered as a limited edition. So could this have been a special order?

frame pucks came out in '06 along with the new style swingarm. did the person you bought it from tell you it was a "limited edition" or "special order". as for the europe part is your speedo in KM or MPH?

No and the place I bought it from said that nothing was changed as far as they knew. Is there a way to check title or vin to see what color it was from factory. Kind of like with cars where you can get paint codes and other things from it. If so ill look up to see how its done. I know that it sat for 4 years. And the stock valencia orange color airbox I found has buell on it and the one I have doesn't.

here is oz the 05 xb12s came in valencia orange. i believe that the orange was only a 12 colour, and not available for a 9. i would think that your bike has had some colour changes along the way. nothing wrong with it. the orange was just another standard model choice.
